Arayaga2 (772), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 22, 2008 Cider brown in appearance. Too subtle but noticeably sweet aroma. Taste is musty and minimal with serious off flavors of cider and sawdust... perhaps the "cardboardy" flavors of yeast autolysis. In any case, this product was not very good. bp (315), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 22, 2007 Draft at Dock Street: pours a dark reddish color with little head, aroma reminded me of cherries, I can’t really put my finger on the taste, maybe it was the oak flavor mentioned in the commercial description above, not bad stuff but nothing special either. JB175 (1366), Holland, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 18, 2007 On tap at Dock Street - Slightly reddish-brown with a medium off-white head. Aroma has a sweet raisin/plum thing going on that is paired well with some sugary malts and a somewhat piney hop essence. Flavor is dominated by the raisin, brown sugar, plum sweetness with a good amount of hop bite. Not a "great" barleywine, but this one is highly drinkable considering its youth. Mouthfeel is nice and the hops don’t overwhelm. Alcohol is barely noticable at 10.5% ABV. Pretty tasty. jde123 (706), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 16, 2007 Tap, part of a sampler at this brewpub. Dark caramel in color, with no head. Aroma was fainlty sweet, hints of alcohol. Taste was quite bitter, much more so than I expected, given the soft sweetness of the rest of the beers in the sampler. Not great, but a ncie effort.
