Draught at CAH: Faint aroma of pale malts. Poured amber in color with a small, off-white head that diminished but lasted around the edges. Clear. Sparkling. Flavor is slightly sweet and medium bitter. Tastes of pale malts, yeast, slight spices, and a hint of alcohol. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Yeast and pale malt finish. 10.2%ABV is very well hidden.

From the tap poured a copper color with a good amount of head. Nice sweet malty flavor with a nice bitter lingering finish.

Draught at Monk’s Cafe. Hazy golden pour. Bready aromas with clove and light fruit (banana, pear, white grape). Off-sweet bready malts with notes of banana and bubblegum with a nice peppery/hoppy spiciness. Starts off pleasantly sweet and fruity and finishes peppery and dry---an ideal formula. Great domestic tripel.

12oz handbottle from steve, thanks dude. Pours golden with a bright white head. Nose is sweet and honey and overall, slightly hoppy. Taste is quite hoppy slickly resinny with a clear honey finish. Interesting trip.

Tap at Monks. Lightly hazy golden beer with a thick moussey white head. Soft earthy/spicy hop nose. Sort of noble/spicy smelling with loads and loads of hop bitterness. It’s hopped quite assertively. Malts are a little bit more bready than is typical. Lingering floral/spicy hop finish and a long lingering bitter finish. Lovely pint really.

I really like the idea of combining Belgian yeast and malts with American hops, and Lost Abbey Devotion is one of my favorite American attempts at the blend. The Dock Street works, but not as well. The beer is a little simple and a little too clear for a tripel, but the combination of American hops does add some charm.

Draft. Pours unclear golden brown with a white head. Light fruity aroma, with yeast and a hint of spice. The flavor brings more spices than the aroma, with sweet fruit and a dry hoppy finish.
