draft at Brewpub. Pours brown/black with a tan head. Aroma of coffee grounds. Full bodied. The flavor is dominated by coffee, with some dark chocolate accents, and little residual sweetness. Finishes bitter, roasty dry with some astringency. Decent, but heavy on the coffee.

Aug 2, 2008 On draft at local beer bar. Pours dark brown to black, tan head. Aroma rich in coffee with some background roast. Palate velvety and moderate to full bodied. Flavor rich in expresso/coffee with nice balance of chocolate and crystal background. If you like not so shy coffee stouts dive in with confidence.

May 9, 2008 Pours a pitch black color with tan head. Roasted coffee aroma with hints of chocolate and caramel. Flavor once again dominated by roasted coffe and balanced by chocolate and caramel notes. Bitter dry hopped finish

Nov 11, 2007 On Tap at Dock Street. Dark brown pour with a nice tan head. Aroma of solid espresso with small amounts of chocolate and roast - a real eye opener that gets your mouth watering (if you like coffee). Flavor is of smooth, well roasted coffee with some hints of roast and chocolate. Pleasant finish. I’m impressed with this one - I love coffee and am into most coffee stouts, but unlike most of the other good ones (BGB, Founder’s), this one is pretty much session strength at 5.5% ABV. Well done!

Oct 24, 2007 KSBF07 Pour was almost black with dark head. Aroma was tons of coffee and roasted chocolate. Flavor was a lots and lots nice coffee, vanilla. Finished a nice dry, well done.
