Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

(bottle). Cloudy copper color. Medium size dark, off white head. Moderate hop aroma with heavy alcohol. Sweet flavor with strong flavors of hops and alcohol. Avg duration. Slick texture. Spare lacing. Soft carbonation. Astringent finish.

Man this was better than I though it would be. Aroma is strong with hops, citrus, dank sort of resiny aromas. Not to mention a floral bit and some clear caramelly malt sweetness. Flavor is similar tons of caramel tons of hops, plenty of alcohol, some cherry and some intense citrus and bitterness. Yep it’s all jacked up on steroids. But for what it is it is well balanced and easy to drink, the alcohol is fairly muted and I’ve had 9% beers that were much harsher than this. The sort of enigma that makes me think I’ll need another bottle.

Bottled.. Pours copper with a thin white head.. Aroma is caramel, candy sweetness, floral hops and alcohol.. Taste was caramel, toffee, honey, grapes and a slight woody note.. Full body with good carbonation.. Too easy to drink for the abv.. Had a whole bottle while I watched UFC 100.

Bottled 01/17/08, Consumed 10/30/08. Apple juice brown with no head. Hops, cherries, alcohol, rum, sugary candy, bread, and fruit on nose. Variety almost reminds me of Worldwide here. Tastes like it smells. Very sweet. Alcohol just a little hot, though fair mouth overall. BUT...this is NOT the hop bomb I thought it would be. I was disappointed by a $9 12oz that had 120 IBUs masked behind sugar and booze.

This is my third 12 oz bottle (not 3rd today) Got them all from the E Bremerton Red Apple (Gargiulles) - they are not out in the cooler; you need to ask the owner (Tim) to get one from the back. Nice cloudy orange color with a small head that reduces fast. Aroma is sugar cane, sweet fruits and hops. Taste is too sweet because the hoppiness is hidden behind the sugars. Nice warm and sweet finish - hops are more prevalent at the end. Tastes good, but disapointed after the 90 and all the hype.

Fresh from the brewery and graciously shared by a very generous friend. Pours with a fizzy body that soon becomes almost flat. It’s a mottled amber color with no cap and very faint lacing. Aroma is a medley of bitter-sweet ale, schnapps, and a fruity dry wine. Not what I was expecting but very intriguing nonetheless. Mouth feel is spritzy and has somewhat of a resemblance to balance. I really can’t believe how drinkable and "balanced" a beer of this magnitude actually is. It warms the belly, but is far from feeling hot. While enjoying my sample I found myself trying to figure out what I was tasting. After a while it dawned on me...Fresca! Yup good ol’ Fresca, nice fizzy grapefruity, sweet goodness. But it’s more than that it’s Fresca if it were a beer and then mixed with some high quality peach schnapps. Lot’s of apricot, peach, and citrus flavors involved with a malty backdrop of sugary sweetness followed by some bittering hops. Not at all what I would have guessed, not great but certainly better than my score indicates.

On draught at RnH (NYC): Pours like a shiny penny, smells like an apple. Tastes sweet and tart for a good while, until the very end when there’s a strong kick of pure alcohol that stays with you. But whatevs... it’s 18-21% alcohol! For its ABV, it tastes like a sweet, juicy gem (caramel, SUGAR, and maple syrup big time). It’s the ultimate mind trick. It’s awesome.
