| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 28, 2009 Bottle from winter, late 2008/early 2009. Pours copper-orange, with a thin beige head, good lasting lacing. Strong alcohol aroma, with caramel, grapefruit, heavy pine resin, peach, hay, and an earthy, fungal undertone. Medium body, low carbonation, somewhat sticky, but smooth and dry. Very sweet malt flavor up front, caramel, bread, apple, and a strong alcohol, pine and hay finish. Slightly more sweet than bitter in the aftertaste. This is a huge, wild and burly beer. furiousdman (5), Bakersfield, California, USA does not count | 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 27, 2009 Play it again, Sam. The massive number of hop additions and whatever other strange alchemy Dogfish Head did to this beer created a surprising beast of a beer. My best description would be to call this beer a light, carbonated port wine. It does not tastes bitter. It is almost syrupy sweet, and there is a definite raisin flavor. Yet, the hop flavor shines, harnessing the sweetness and making the beer very drinkable - albeit in sips rather than gulps. I need to find more. lowgun1212 (77), Montclair, New Jersey, USA

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | Jun 21, 2009 Here’s the thing about this beer: I am damn glad there are people out there willing to push the envelop and make interesting, wicked strong beers. I have seen reviews saying the color isn’t appealing because it’s orange, too sweet, etc. and IMO those are people that aren’t disturbed enough to be alowed to drink this beer. I am going to have another just to double-check though. hopheadfett (50), Oak Ridge, New Jersey, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 21, 2009 Enjoyed at cellar temp. Pours a golden orange. Nose is intense, banana comes to mind, as well as citrus and pine. Taste is wild, as expected. Shockingly sweet, perhaps too sweet, maybe to counterbalance the alcohol. Hops are present but not as much as expected, the alcohol was promininent. Finishes sweet, very mild bitterness. After finishing the bottle, i was a wee-bit dizzy, lol. Overall impressed with the beer, will definetly try again, i feel this beer is the extreme, and you must appreciate it.
