Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with a off-white head. Aroma of alchol and pine. Tastes of alchol, sweet and citrus with a sharp bite.

Bottle, 12 fl.oz. Pours a clear golden/orange beer with a fizzy head. The aroma is alcohol, grass, pine and citrus. The flavor is strong alcohol, but with a complex beer underneath. The palate is sharp and edgy, and overall this beer has too much alcohol. With less alcohol it might be a better beer.

Since the 90 min IPA is one of my favorite Dogfish Head beers, I figured the 120 min would be even better. How wrong I was. Poured a nice amber orange color, but that’s where the good stuff ended. Tasted like 1pound of sugar in my beer and left a syrup sticky feel in my mouth. I couldn’t even drink 1/2 the beer before I poured it out.

Purchaed a bottle for $7 at Abe’s 6 pack. Served in the Dogfish Head snifter. The pour was a hazy orange, with almost non existent head. Smelled of hops and sugar. The taste was like someone covered a birthday cake with 90 Minute IPA. It hid the alcohol very well, but you could definitely feel the burn on the way down, and feel it in your head. Every beer drinker should try this at least once.

Viscous pour without much head. Aroma is of hops and pure glucose. I expected a monster of a hop bomb and I got candied hops instead. I’m pretty much left with one question after trying this beer... Who poured 10 tsp of sugar in my beer? Drain Pour.

Christmas gift from the wife. Why I never rated this is beyond me...but I will now. Aroma is incredibly astringent even after sitting for 5 months. Pours a deep orange with a finger high head. Pure rubbing alcohol and way sweet. Oily syrupy mouthfeel and about the same as last time I had it. Not great.

Bottle at Ølbaren, 27-APR-2009. Smells sweet with a nice little hoppy nose with oranges. Very subttle and very complex. I could sip this all night. Wouw, fantastic. Very oily with small bubles, fills the mouth.
