Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

Very strong. The aging and complexity really tends to mask the hoppiness to me. Very opaque amber in color, fruitiness and a bit of floralness. Very small head. The alcohol and bitterness are well within reason; it almost seems as though it should have more punch and not be so drinkable. You will certainly feel the effect of it through one bottle. Absolutely one to try.

Aroma: Obviously very hoppy. Appearence: Typical golden IPA. Flavor: As you can expect - 120 IBUs - it’s the 90-minute and then some - guessing Warrior hops. Bitterness hides heat of alcohol well (again as expected). Palate: sharp initial, slightly grittly finish. Overall impression: Exactly what you would expect from a 120 IBU IPA.

An amazing beer, obviously. But, even for an IPA lover, this one is a bit strong in terms of taste.

Has a sweet taste with a strong after taste. Its so nice to drink 120 min because not many are needed to get a little buzz.

Hazy orange/amber with gold edges. Light head with a bit of lacing. Lots of grapefruit, sweet orange, and fresh bread, a bit of piney hops on the nose. Velvety mouthfeel. Just a bit of bite on the front of the tongue, quickly disappears into a very grapefruity, sweet citrus, and a bit of herbal hops. Very surprisingly, the hops are not obnoxiously overdone. The peppery alcohol is very dominant, but the 21% is VERY well hidden. Bitterness of cooked apple on the finish. I am very pleasantly surprised by this beer. I expected it to be obnoxious and puckering with alcohol and hops. It is very well balanced, especially for the strength, and it drinks pretty easy. Although I have a decent buzz after half a bottle, I can drink a few of these.

Minimal head, good lacing. Dark copper pour that bubbles nicely. Aroma is just meh...fruity of apples and alcohol. Flavor is wow...sweet but not overpowering sweet. Raisins and earthy notes as well. Palate is incredibly smooth...not rough but this is not an IPA in anyway so the label of ASA is probably correct. Overall....this is way too easy to drink.
