Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

On tap and Andy’s DFH Promo night. Apparently this has been sitting for about 2 years. Gotta start off with a WOW!!! Hazy golden orange color with off-white and long lasting head. Distinct orange citrus aroma. Malty and great big flavor with little presence of alcohol. The orange essence comes through and finishes super clean for a huge brew. How many hops are in each glass? What a great surprise that could be completely based on this being from the tap. A fabulous, fabulous beer experience. Mike C called it a Grand Marnier of beers. Top notch.

I’m nervous... Dégusté avec Agaguk et Pyrozoid. Apparence wow!... Juste wow... Syrop quand on la verse, apparence brun/orangé/bouette, belle mousse brun pale. Aromes de terre intense, cuire, madère, gingembre... WOW... mais kossé que c’est ca??? Patiellement Liqueur, partiellement biere...?

Bottle@Home. Very sweet aroma with Madeira, raisin and a hint of grass. Red/brown colour, yellow firm head, good lace. Very sweet, strong Madeira, very bitter, lots of grassy hops, ginger in the finish. Sticky, cloying, burning in your mouth for ages. Beautiful balance, very flavourful, it aged for about 2.5 years (estimated).

Cornicopia of aroma and taste that assaulted the palate and surerndered to the tastebuds of hop utopia that only Ayn Rand could of understood (who is dogfish 120)?

Bottle, pint, 35-40deg F. Has a strong alcohol odor that mostly masks some citrus/pear aroma. Basically, this beer tastes like an incomplete IPA. The flavors are all separate and never come together to make a good beer. When the price is taken into account, this beer has essentially no redeeming value. I have had beers that were much worse but at least those were cheap. I dont like this beer at all and its got a variety of issues. The three major ones are as follows: 1) Its got a vague aroma of paint thinner that kills any finish. 2) There is no balance to it at all. Its sugar, alcohol, and bitter. None of it blends. 3) The alcohol content is too high and dulls much of the hop flavor and aroma but does not suppress the bitterness.

bottle 12 oz: Pours hazy orange wit h a very very thin head in tulip glass. Smells like honey and applecider vinegar mix with a heavy note on ethanol, hops is in the mix, but give it almost an acetone smell. Taste was sweet, slightly bitter, very alcohol warm, with a hint of grapefruit and citrus. Thick and almost cloying, but not quite there yet. I really do like this, but think one is more than enough and the smell is a bit chemically.
