Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

Golden amber in color... You can smell the alcohol content in the aroma, which overpower the hoppy citrusy aroma... However, upon tasting it, the alcohol content is extremely well balanced by the sweetness of the beer... Definitely well done... Another triumph by Dogfish Head

Now i know i have said all along that I hate IPAs, but can you really call 120 an IPA. It tastes nothing like the standard hop bomb. Had on draft at Datz and blew me away. Almost like a grilled pineapple/peach with pinenuts flavor. It was delicious.

Quite possibly the best beer I have ever had. Pours clear, with little to no head. Color is rich, redish-brown. Nose of pine nuts, pears and light citrus. The flavor explodes on the palate, smooth and rich. Though definitely bitter, its very well balanced on the palate. A true triumph!!

I have had several different years of this beer. Everytime I think its going have an extremely floral nose. I think the compounds responsible for aroma degrade rapidly due to the variance of bottles in the same case. On the other hand its dry hopped in the fermenter and then aged with hops for a month instead of bottling the freshly hopped beer. Same alcohol flavor as all of the other Dogfish Head big beers. Pretty bitter but can’t distinguish hop bitterness from the bitterness of the high alcohol flavor.

2007 bottle from Willow Bend Liquors (Tampa, FL). Cellar aged since released. Pours a slightly hazy deep amber orange color with a one finger creamy white head that settles quickly to virtually nothing. Aroma is sweet and floral with sweet and syrupy notes of brandy and alcohol, rich caramel and raisin aromas, some hints of wood, honey, ripe fruit, bready yeast. Flavor is sweet and floral as well with a stronger floral hop presence than in the nose. Notes of ripe dark fruit, caramel, raisins and candy sugar present as well. Generally full body with a floral and burning alcoholic finish.

Pours orange/brownish color. Nose is incredibly hop filled, with nice citrus and pine notes. Great mouth feel, excellent syrupy texture. Taste is of citrus hops. The finish has a great alcohol taste. Overall, and excellent beer.

Great aroma, florally, smells like beer perfume. Really, really, really sweet with a light caramel flavor.

12oz Bottle. A great beer to go with a special meal. Unbelievably Hoppy taste, but the bitterness fades very quickly towards the end. Certainly not an everyday beer, but excellent nonetheless.
