Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

12 oz. bottle. I am undecided about this beer. Tastes more like a barleywine. Nice aroma with a bitter after taste. I’m still up in the air about this one.

Bottled, brought from the USA. Hazy red color, short lasting head. Aroma of hop, caramel malt, alcohol, sugar. Strong alcoholic taste, cognac, malty, bitter. Good stuff.

Bottled. Aroma has extreme hoppyness, fruits, raisin, rum. Hazy, orange coloured with an off-white, lasting , thin head. The taste is quite bitter with fruity and caramel malty sweetness. It is full bodied and quite heavy. Siruppy texture, bit like hop juice. Alcohol warming palate, but it’s not really like 18%. Very powerfull, love it.

Strange brew. It smells ultra hoppy like any IIPA as you pop the cap, but after the pour it smells more like a barleywine/IIPA. Foresty pine, citrusy aroma with brandy, portlike qualities and raisins. Very interesting. It has a hazy orange color with a thick but fast dissapearing head. The taste is a little off for me. Tastes kind of like their Olde school barleywine. Very orangy, apple, rum, raisin, spicy, but it does finish off with a nice bitterness that manages to balance it out somewhat. The alcohol is just way too much here. Maybe because I had to finish a whole 12 ounces by myself. Ughh. It tastes kind of like those bad coctails you make with whatever Dole fruit juice you have in your fridge. Not my thing, but it was a trip to experience.

As the bottle says, this beer can be kept in your collection for years without losing anything. At $8 a bottle and tough to find in Delaware (we bought it in DE) this is a steep price to pay. However, we bought 4 bottles to share with friends, and plan to keep 2 of those bottles for celebrations in the coming years. Definetely a sipping beer, a delicious IPA with powerful hops the whole way from aroma through aftertaste. Highly recommended!

Golden amber in color... You can smell the alcohol content in the aroma, which overpower the hoppy citrusy aroma... However, upon tasting it, the alcohol content is extremely well balanced by the sweetness of the beer... Definitely well done... Another triumph by Dogfish Head

Now i know i have said all along that I hate IPAs, but can you really call 120 an IPA. It tastes nothing like the standard hop bomb. Had on draft at Datz and blew me away. Almost like a grilled pineapple/peach with pinenuts flavor. It was delicious.

Quite possibly the best beer I have ever had. Pours clear, with little to no head. Color is rich, redish-brown. Nose of pine nuts, pears and light citrus. The flavor explodes on the palate, smooth and rich. Though definitely bitter, its very well balanced on the palate. A true triumph!!
