Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

This IPA is great. Pours golden with a small amount of head. Nose was honey, hops, and alcohol. Taste was almost like mead. Honey, caramel, and sweet sweet barley. 20% alcohol was well hidden in the almost oily mouthfeel of the beer. It is unlike any IPA i’ve ever had. Very good!

This was a very fine looking IPA. It was decently translucent with a nice golden hue - it almost looked like white wine. It also had a decently nice head as well but it fell quickly. It had a very nice scent and hops - oh, and alcohol. There was also a small bit of sweetness and a bouquet of flowers. At first taste, it actually reminded me quite a bit of white wine but with a little bit more bite from the alcohol. There was also a nice spice from the barley but also a hint of sweetness - strange for a beer this strong. The texture was very nice for this beer as well. It was very smooth and the flow reminded me of a spirit after the initial taste. The flow was very nice and all of this counteracts with the kick in the ass it gives you at the end.

2009-18%ABV, not evident. This is the Sauterne of beers. Hints of caramel, marzipan, raisins. Starting drinking ice cold and then warmed up (very complex both ways). Have a few that I would like to age out over the years 2, 4, 6, etc.

12 oz bottle. Pours a nice copper color with a nice lite orange head. The aroma is very sweet with hops. Taste is a sweet bitter. The malts overpower the hops. Finishes with a bitter aftertaste,

Bottle. Clear golden amber, light beige head, nice lacing. Aroma is sweet, very sweet, caramel, apple, and obviously alcohol that is lightly overwhelming. Flavor is extremely sweet, with malt notes of caramel, sugar candy, and fruit. Hops come in big in the finish. Great brew but lot of alcohol.

12oz bottle from Village Beer Merchant poured into a snifter. As my friend said....it should come with a warning: flammable. The AROMA of this dark orange hopmonster was reminiscent of my relatives’ moonshine made of orchard fruits with a touch of citrus. Nice MOUTHFEEL, oily but not too heavy for something with this much malt and booze...like a lightly sparkling port. The FLAVOR was more alcohol and honey-sweet malt than citrusy hops. The varnish-like burn actually settled down as it warmed, and the hops became noticable, as was a general fruitiness...(elements of apples, grapes, plums, citrus) and a bit of sourness. OVERALL: good fireside sipper or a good way to start a fun evening....bad way to cap off a night of heavy drinking.
