Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

A gift from my brother in law this year, thanks Neil. Pour was a very hazy apricot color with nice carbonation. Aroma was awesome, orange, alcohol and TONS OF HOPS. Flavor was heavy on the hops, was rich in citrus and had a slick mouthfeel and a very warming alcohol finish. An asskicker of a beer to be shared, do not do this one alone. Overall, one of my top 5 *special occasion* beers.

Nice fluffy head. Not really filtered. Nice orange haze color. Very pungent. Alcohol and hops. Nice citrus aroma. Love the aroma. It is very pungent. The aroma is also very crisp. This beer also has a nice malt aroma to it. Whoa! The flavor is very alcoholic. The beer is hoppy, but the alcohol just burns all the way down. Also, the $10 price tag was not fun either. This beer has a nice hoppy flavor, once you get by the alcohol. Not a bad aroma, but as far as flavor goes, hard to enjoy the hops with all of the alcohol. This is borderline novelty.

Bottle.
Unclear orange color with a average, creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, heavy to harsh hoppy, orange, pine, resin. Flavor is heavy to harsh sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is syrupy, carbonation is flat. Very very hoppy, way too hot, alcohol just comes through as a burn. Very difficult to actually drink. (120908)

Draft at Dogfish Head Alehouse. Served in a snifter. Murky, cloudy orange-brown color with no head. First whiff was an offputting (but intriguing) nosefull of nail polish with a mix of citrus and tannic fruit. Thankfully, less nail polish in the flavor, which is a jumble of sweet fruit with amazingly little bitterness. As it warmed, banana flavor began to emerge and dominate. This beer is almost syrupy on the palate with warm alcohol but doesnt burn going down despite its high alcohol content.

12 oz. bottle shared with DuffmanSW while homebrewing an all Centennial IPA. This is really an unusual beer. I remember having it about 6 months ago in Seattle and it tasted almost too strong to enjoy. This time it tasted like a dessert beer. Very small off-white head with a murky orange color and very little carbonation. Smells like sweet brandy and alcohol, with hints of all kinds of random stuff like apple, figs, pear, butterscotch, dark berries, sherry or white port, and molasses. Heavy sweetness and alcohol throughout with a very short and somewhat sour finish. A flat, syrupy texture. Its like beer candy. Smooth for the amount of alcohol. Weird, but still pretty damn good as a sipper.

12 oz bottle at my 40 y party, thanks a lot to yngwie! Hazy golden/amber color, lovely big white head. Aroma is hoppy!!! Flavor is very sweet with hops and hops again. Hides the alcohol pretty well.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy amber with an off white frothy head that lasts and leaves excellent lacing. It has a heavy hop aroma of flowers, perfume, herbs and resin. It is heavy, thick and very sweet. Thick and oily, sweet and very bitter. The taste lingers. It is like a hop liqueur.

Orange/Amber in color with a medium off white head. The aroma is of pungent hops, citrus, caramel, alcohol and honey. The flavor is sweet and hoppy with notes of citrus and flowers, a little too sweet for my tastes (I prefer bitter beers.) The texture is syrupy. Overall Id say it’s a good beer, the only drawback is its a little too sweet.
