ILoveNewBeer (113), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Oct 28, 2008 I love this beer so the rating may be a tad bias.
Pours a beautiful hazzy brown in color, with a fluffy white head. Hoppy to the nose with a hint of the proof.
Full bodied, full flavored and amazing. The hops just come out and punch you in the mouth! This truly is the Holy Gr. . ale. Scauca (408), Lovere, Italy Oct 27, 2008 Dark amber with a strong lacing head. Very malty nose, sweet with some fruity hop hints. Obviously ethilic but not certainly as you could expect from a crazy 21%, quite sugary, sweet well bodied palate. Where’s that hop ton gone? swillguzzler99 (19), Glendale, Arizona, USA Oct 26, 2008 Poured from a bottle. Pours brown with a hint of orange thrown in. No head. Almost seems syrupy. The hops are evident event the glass is two feet away from my nose. Nose is of hops and candied sugar. Good mouth feel is my first impression. Starts like a Celebrator but the aftertaste is more hoppy. It finishes in a way that I cannot describe, but not bad. Pretty damn good if you only have one. pman (26), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA Oct 20, 2008 I drink this once a year, on my birthday. Color between that of a root beer and ? Dum Dum. Hoppy and malty, what else could you want? Has some burn; definitely a sippin’ ale tarheels86 (700), Washington DC, USA Oct 20, 2008 Pours a deep clear amber with a small head. Aroma is overpowering: lots of alcohol, cough syrup, whiskey, and honey. Mouthfeel is too intense for me. This is not even enjoyable. From all of the hops this beer is actually a little unbalanced on the sweet side. Way too sweet: like orange cough syrup with a shot of Jack Daniels. I did not enjoy this whatsoever. Call me uncultured but this is just too much all around. The 90 Min will do just fine. dnlsartin (68), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 19, 2008 Updated: Feb 28, 2009Cloudy, thick, appearance. Silky, syrupy, whiskey-like body. Extra hoppy, floral notes with honey, maple, and brown sugar finish. A sweet, high alcohol treat in a near perfect beer.
Black & Tan:
Someone recommended trying a Black & Tan style by combining this beer with the Dogfish Head World Wide Stout. Being that my store sold both, I saved half of this beer to try it out, though I’m not usually the mixing type…With an almost ridiculously unnamable aroma, the World Wide dominates on the front end, with a brilliant hoppy finish from the 120 minute. A very cool, adventurous experience. I wish I had the words to articulate it, following the high alcohol content of the previous beer.
WinoInTraining (104), Longmont, Colorado, USA Oct 19, 2008 This beer will strip the coating in your mouth off like varnish remover. Intense alcohol. dried pine resin, some floral, but not as much as it need to retain balance. "Liquid crystalized ginger" as Noncaloric says, but not sweet like candied ginger, too much i think. Maybe split the difference and make a 105 minute IPA, lower the alcohol and cut the resin, it could be better. Crazy and unique though noncaloric (601), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Oct 17, 2008 If you’re only going to have one beer tonight, make it this one ... or perhaps it’s the other way around.
Intense hops aroma, not much citrus, but a lot of spruce and flowers. Spring in an alpine meadow wouldn’t be far off. Pours a hazy, almost glowing red bronze with a modest yellowish head. Hits strong up front with coniferous and grassy hops, but cold, anyway, the mid-palate is off balance: the high alcohol content fights for supremacy with the downright syrupy sweetness, and it’s a stalemate. The finish mellows out, in toffee and caramel, while the hops lingers in a pleasant afteraste that lasts all evening.

Would have rated lower, but as the beers warmed up, or maybe just as I warmed up, the powerful alcoholic warmth finally harmonized with the sweet and aromatic elements, as something like liquid crystallized ginger root. There is a wow in here, but cold it was overwhelmed by the whoa.
