Plenty of yeast in the aroma and at the bottom of the glass. Slightly sour with plenty of acidity. So laden with alcohol that it’s actually pretty tough to drink. Notes of apricot marmalade, overripe apples, and sweet spices along with a prominent malt profile. Whoa. tilldeath (74), Arvada, Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Nov 2, 2008 Wow! On so many levels this beer is great, not to bitter, not overly carbonated, clean mouth feel, all comes to a mild dry finish. However the two parts I dislike in this beer are the price, but I guess with the price of hops and the amount used in this beer it is understandable. The second is is aroma, the high alcohol content really comes through and doesn’t lend to the beers drinkability. I found myself pluging my nose from mouth full to mouth full. But if you haven’t had it yet it is worth the money and time. benwah22 (14), , Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 31, 2008 Wow, completely not what I expected. First of all, i had no clue this was 21% alcohol because the bottle I bought did not have the ABV listed. You figure out the alcohol pretty quickly though upon first sent. It pours well, dark amber/honey color - not much of a head on it. The aroma is slightly cirtrus and the alcohol is prevelant but not overpowering. I was expecting to be blown away with bitterness but was pleasantly surprised to find a sweetness to it. It will leave a lingering airy bitter taste on your palate but nothing overpowering. The alcohol is well hidden while you’re drinking it and the sweetness makes it go down quite smoothly. Overall, a pleasant surprise but at over $8/bottle not an everyday brew Beardface (984), Eugene, Oregon, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 29, 2008 Surprisingly sweet and easy to drink for something that’s so massively full of alcohol. HUGE hop taste here too, this mother is going to straight up knock you on your ass but you’re going to love every minute of it. Sleeper (76), Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 29, 2008 Pours a thick hazy golden. Smells hoppy and um, alcoholic. I’m excited like christmas. Taste is hoppy and very full body. You can feel the alcohol fumes but it’s not hard core in the taste. I’m really surprised at this beer. It’s actually well balanced with the sweet and bitter. It warms the belly. Awesome! ILoveNewBeer (113), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Oct 28, 2008 I love this beer so the rating may be a tad bias.
Pours a beautiful hazzy brown in color, with a fluffy white head. Hoppy to the nose with a hint of the proof.
Full bodied, full flavored and amazing. The hops just come out and punch you in the mouth! This truly is the Holy Gr. . ale. Scauca (409), Lovere, Italy
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 27, 2008 Dark amber with a strong lacing head. Very malty nose, sweet with some fruity hop hints. Obviously ethilic but not certainly as you could expect from a crazy 21%, quite sugary, sweet well bodied palate. Where’s that hop ton gone? swillguzzler99 (19), Glendale, Arizona, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 26, 2008 Poured from a bottle. Pours brown with a hint of orange thrown in. No head. Almost seems syrupy. The hops are evident event the glass is two feet away from my nose. Nose is of hops and candied sugar. Good mouth feel is my first impression. Starts like a Celebrator but the aftertaste is more hoppy. It finishes in a way that I cannot describe, but not bad. Pretty damn good if you only have one.
