KimJohansen (6645), Copenhagen V, Denmark Sep 13, 2008 Hazy amber with medium beige head. Sweet aroma with toasted malt, fruits and loads of hops. Sweet flavour with ripe fruits, hops, toasted malt and caramel notes. Ends bitter with warming alcohol. jeremyd365 (109), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Sep 10, 2008 I finally got my chance at The Holy Grail! I was expecting some sort of undrinkable wallop, but what I got was a delightful and delicious experience. Poured a dark, hazy copper with very creamy head that stuck around. Obviously the hops were apparent from the smell, to the mouth, to the finish, but what I found interesting was the slightly mild fruity finish which almost tasted of apricots. This beer was quite a delight and although one could tell the alcohol was there, it definitely didn’t give the impression of being 21%. However, after even my 5.5oz pour, I could tell it was there. cakanator (41), Northampton, Massachusetts, USA Sep 9, 2008 Damn 20% later and I’m feeling great! On tap at Sierra last november. Dark syrup heavy nose like your gonna have a cordial. Tons of hop and flavor plus a great balance make this worthy of aging a long time. t4h2c0 (80), seattle, Washington, USA Sep 9, 2008 This beer is a serious kick in the mouth, extremely hoppy while still very malty. You can really taste the alcohol in this one, that makes this beer a sipper for sure, and after a few glass you are already feeling it, hell ya! Thick and syrupy, small white head, overpowering hop aroma and flavor. This beer sits on your paIate until you do something to clear it, very lingering aftertatse. I like extreme and over the top. cmillward (418), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 8, 2008 On tap fresh @ the brewery and @ redlight redlight. Pours a deep hazy gold/amber with a small frothy off-white head. On the nose massive amounts of citrus and pine hops sitting atop a sweet honey-ish malt profile. In flavor, very sugary with strong citrus hops first, then a very long pine hop assault. Between the sweetness and the over the top hop flavors, its hard to taste the bitterness ending it, but I was left with the tingly mf of massive hop bitterness as the sweetness subsided. This created a drying sensation, but no doubt this is super sweet. Had enough carb to keep it from being overtly syrupy. Its quite an experience, and it seems well made and not a one off novelty, but its something I’m in no rush to revisit anytime soon. dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA Sep 7, 2008 hazy caramel color, thin tan head that quickly dissipates. some nice lacing. citrusy, piney hoppy nose, but not overtly overpowering. flavor of caramel, grapefruit, and a lovely alcohol hit which is not overpowering, nicely hiding the 21% abv. a great hop-head drink. gotta take out a third mortgage on the house to buy more bottles (at $9.99 per bottle) of this. spud1987 (46), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Sep 6, 2008 Floral aroma, you can also smell the alcohol. Great appearance, cloudy orange amber color with a one finger white head. Flavor is good, I wasn’t shocked by the alcohol but that may be because I was expecting something outrageous at 21%. Flavor isn’t too complex, a very thick mouth feel. Overall, not a bad beer. I’m glad I tried it and probably would again. BenDover (125), Texas, USA Sep 6, 2008 Pours a very cloudy orange, no head whatsoever. Aroma is pungently hoppy and floral. The taste... alcohol, hops, alcohol, a bit of sweetness like honey, alcohol, alcohol, and alcohol. Good, interesting, but the 90-minute is better. And cheaper.
