Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

Bottled at EBF 2008. Clear amber, medium white head. Strongly alcoholic and sugary, with loads of piney and citric hops. Heavy in body, sweet and cloying. Hugely overrated.

Bottle. Pours clear orange with a little off-white head. Nose of caramel, malt an alcohol. Sweet flavour with alcohol, port and overriped fruit. Full bodied. Pleasant bitter finish, again with alcohol. OK.

Bottle @ EBF Golden color. Aroma is boooooozy! Taste was lots of tropicfruits and a bit spicy. Alcohol can be found everywhere but still a pretty smooth mouthfeel.

Clear golden color, tan head. Acidic, sour almost, spicy and citrus scent. Smooth citrus and malty with alcohol taste. Smooth mouthfeel, high bitterness.

I finally got my chance at The Holy Grail! I was expecting some sort of undrinkable wallop, but what I got was a delightful and delicious experience. Poured a dark, hazy copper with very creamy head that stuck around. Obviously the hops were apparent from the smell, to the mouth, to the finish, but what I found interesting was the slightly mild fruity finish which almost tasted of apricots. This beer was quite a delight and although one could tell the alcohol was there, it definitely didn’t give the impression of being 21%. However, after even my 5.5oz pour, I could tell it was there.

Damn 20% later and I’m feeling great! On tap at Sierra last november. Dark syrup heavy nose like your gonna have a cordial. Tons of hop and flavor plus a great balance make this worthy of aging a long time.

This beer is a serious kick in the mouth, extremely hoppy while still very malty. You can really taste the alcohol in this one, that makes this beer a sipper for sure, and after a few glass you are already feeling it, hell ya! Thick and syrupy, small white head, overpowering hop aroma and flavor. This beer sits on your paIate until you do something to clear it, very lingering aftertatse. I like extreme and over the top.
