Leaves some lacing on the side of this glass. Aroma is hoppy and alcohol. Flavor is sweet, fruit, citrus, alcohol and grass. This beer warms you up as you drink it. Not as hoppy as I thought it would be but good never the less savnac (408), Palmer, Alaska, USA

Cloudy orange with a white head and a bit of darker sediment that came out at the end. The taste is surprisingly smooth for the alcohol content, sweet and almost like a desert wine, not as hoppy as I thought. Thick mouth feel and hardly carbonated. Very unique but almost transcends the beer category. Is this worth the price? imadeadguy (378), back in NJ!, New Jersey, USA

Flavor is a straight up MALT BOMB! All alcohol and malt. Down the drain this guy went. knights97 (80), Tennessee, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 27, 2008 This is one monster beer, pours to a cloudy amber body, smells of hops and strong liquor taste, has a small white head that dissipates quickly. From the first sip, this is more of a desert beer that you’d want to enjoy over time, with every taste, the hops are present, along with a sweet alcohol taste, that goes down smooth but has a nice burning like many liquors too, loved the beer but my palate is not used to something this strong, rbod (25), Davie, Florida, USA

Interesting how at this intensity, the hops give way to finer, less bitter flavours: more sweet and sugary. Don’t get me wrong, the hop bitterness is still there though. The alcohol is well masked considering its intensity, but wow, I still feel like that was the most prominent flavour. 502Flavors (617), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 24, 2008 12 oz into sniffer. Great hazy copper pour with a huge off white creamy head that settles down to about a quarter inch and then holds pretty well. Very fresh and complexly hoppy aroma - resinous and citrus whole leaf fresh hops. The flavor is unique; it has a very sweet malt character like an old ale (without the soy) upfront that is balanced out by the huge amount of hops. I would be interested to see how this ages because I would imagine that it would calm down the almost overly sweet malt character while, at the same time, diminishing the hop character. Very heavy and thick for the style on the palate - heavy/full bodied. The alcohol is hidden so unbelievably well - tastes like a 9% with well hidden alcohol... none on the tongue and some warmth in the stomach. Overall: not the greatest IIPA, but so uniwue that it must be tried. arondee (176), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 24, 2008 $9 12 oz bottle given to me for my birthday this year. Wow this beer didn’t disappoint. Nothing like the 60 minute or 90 minute. It’s much maltier, and although the hops are also very much present, the honey malt flavor and sweetness takes over. You have to take your time with this beer. As it warms up the alcohol becomes more noticeable. If it weren’t so expensive I’d have bottles of this in my fridge. I have to say this is probably my new favorite beer. It’s a shame I’ll only be able to afford to drink it 2 or 3 times a year.
