Tripplebrew (470), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Aug 15, 2008 Updated: Aug 16, 2008Holy crap. This is amazing. Pours a creamy golden honey color with white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is incredibly hoppy but not pine-like at all completely sweet. after two sips I feel like I should blackout from the alcohol. Flavor is intensely sweet but not like drinking a syrupy beer. The hops come out enough but in a different way that they do with traditional hop beers. It is this intense caramelized forms of hops that plays wonderfully in this beer. Body is fabulous with a thick creaminess that isn’t syrupy but has the perfect touch of carbonation. jonno (538), Brisbane, Australia Aug 15, 2008 An impressive drink no doubt, but not really a beer. totally overrated for the price too (1900 yen for a 355ml bottle) TwoDudes (77), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Aug 14, 2008 Draft at The Nachbar. 12 oz pour. Pours a Very cloudy orangeish color. My wife and I split the pour and I am glad we did. This is one intense beer. Sweet, resinous, and about as full-bodied as a beer can get. Good, but a bit too much overall. Woodsman52 (23), , Ohio, USA Aug 13, 2008 i’ve had this beer more than a few times. first time to rate it and i must say that i enjoy this beer more each time i drink it. it has the most unique hop tastes of any ipa i know of. caramel in color with little to no lacing. smells a bit oaky but does not reflect that smell i n the taste. extremely well balanced for the abv. not an every day drinker, but most definitely something to savor again and again. bconley (351), Fern Park, Florida, USA Aug 13, 2008 Absolutely Awesome! Didn’t know the abv of it until I had finished and tried to walk. Very sweet. Same sticky cloying sweetness as the World Wide Stout. Same science-experiment-in-the-making ABV. Did they get candi sugar on sale and dump it all into those two beers? Not at all drinkable or enjoyable. aplusbreaks (330), , Colorado, USA Aug 11, 2008 12oz Bottle pours a "Tigers eye’ color (as described by wifey) with a miniscule head. Aromas of Pine, apples, and band aids, even some acetone?!?! Flavors of apples and citrus and surprisingly LITTLe hops/bitterness. For the "Holy Grail of Hopheads’ Im rather disappointed in the hops that come through. It does however hide the alcohol VERY well.
