Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

To enjoy this beer, you should know what you are getting yourself into. Beautiful color, very sweet and alchoholy nose, tastes much more like mead or honey. Almost no sign of bitterness you would expect from an imperial ipa. All that said, a very good beer for sipping and sharing.

Pours a deep goldish orange. Aroma burns my nose with its loaded alcohol content. Good Lord! I can’t get past the scotch in the aroma. Flavor is intense but more complex with notes of caramel, hops, and vanilla extract. Nice and buttery and some in-your-face booze in the finish.

Had one in Florida about 2 years ago. Same as it was then. Smells like hop heaven with dried fruit and pine. Taste is sweet and alcohol, some hops after that clears, and finishes bitter. Almost dries out in the end, but lingers a nice port or dessert wine finish. Overall worth the $10 -12 oz bottle price, if not just for sake of drinking it. Got one in the cellar for another year or 5!

Shared from a growler by my BA buddy Mike at Heather’s house. Glad I finally got to try it, but I’ll have ti try it from a bottle, because I don’t know if the growler affected it in a negative manner. Nose was super sweet, like a mead. Honey and fruit. Taste was same. No discernable hops. Sippable at best. Rich and thick. I was definitely disappointed.

Bottle, Great beer, a bit sweet for a good hoppy beer but still good. Nice aroma strong hops with a light sweet hint. Very complex with flavors

This beer is not for the inexperienced craft beer drinker or those that just think they like IPAs. If you don’t love IPAs, this beer will be lost/wasted on you. It is highly complex and is best shared with those with similar tastes. You’ll each experience something different in its flavors. Allow it to warm in your mouth for new tastes.

This beer was lost on me. It was more like a hop liquer. Almost borderline Bitters. Lots of tangerines and grapefruit with caramel, but way to thick, sweet and overwhelming to really be anything that enjoyable. Two ounces was about one ounce too many for me.
