Strykzone (1459), Wood River, Illinois, USA Jun 26, 2008 Pours a thick opaque apricot color with a small light golden head. Faint aroma is full of hop, sweetness, and fruit. I had hoped the alcohol would be hidden somewhat but not so. Powerful hops are multi dimensional. While they don’t bring any significant tartness to the beer they do provide layers of bitterness. Sweetness is a major theme to the 120. This beer is over the top in alcohol, hop, sugar, and fruit. It is not a shy beer and is one to sip. Larger gulps are just too overpowering. Drinking this beer is kind of like wrestling with a super model. Your hands are definitely full but they are full of some amazing stuff. Tweety (337), Vancouver, Washington, USA Jun 25, 2008 ACBF 2008, batch from 2005. I just don’t think that the age was good to this beer. It was all malt, and downright sickly sweet. When hops fade with character there’s nothing left to balance that out, making it a syrupy mess. tennisjoel (931), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Jun 24, 2008 Cloudy apricot body. Active legs. Creamy lasting off white head. Alcoholic hoppy aroma. Much sweeter than the 90 minute. More of a sugary malt liquor with tons of hops, but they’re balanced out by the sweetness from the ABV. A nice warming burn in the stomach. Very unique and nice beer. Very good sipper I’ll plan on purchasing again. Worth the $9 I paid for it, considering it equals about 4 beers in alcohol strength. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jun 24, 2008 Wow, tastey beer that will definately kick your ass. Poured a thick cloudy, creamy orange colour with a huge white head. Sticky resinous foam left behind. Aroma is wicked hoppy- mangoe, bananna, pine needles, ganj, and sticky wet hopsteaks. Taste is eye awakening, firm astringent hop-punch to the back of the mouth. Creamy all the way through, extremely citrusy fruits. I enjoyed every minute of it. Bigmmartin (366), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jun 24, 2008 Updated: Jul 16, 2008Bottle. Pours dark golden amber with a nice white foamy head. The aroma is strong, massive hops with a little alcohol. The flavor is unique and intense. A huge concentration of hops followed by a nice alcohol burn. Definitely full bodied, yet smooth. More drinkable than you might expect. Very enjoyable. MatSciGuy (629), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Jun 22, 2008 [Bottle] shared at the Heritage Inaugural Tasting. Pours a cloudy straw gold with a small head of fine bubbles. Huge pine resin aroma, also some alcohol and a lot of crystal malt. Flavor is incredibly strong. Way too much pine in the whole thing. Alcohol is not in any way subtle, but what do you expect. Punishingly bitter. Overall, just too much, even for my taste. Swolf3 (252), Elkton, Maryland, USA Jun 21, 2008 Bottle. Citrus aroma, amber in color, Malty and very hoppy. Over all very satisfied. polomagnifico (532), Saginaw, Michigan, USA Jun 20, 2008 bottle. Aroma has notes of fresh cut grass, citrus, and resin. Medium orange amber hazy hue. Below average sized frothy head that mostly diminished and left a little lace. Flavor is citrus sweet and charged with resin and grassy hops. Sweetness turns to a slight alcohol flavor then quickly to an intense bitterness. Palate is full bodied and soft. Quite crisp for such a full bodied brew and the alcohol is amazingly hidden for 21% ABV. The only hint is the burning in the stomach. Really different brew but good.
