specksnreds (55), USA Jun 20, 2008 Tough to call it beer. Almost spirit-like palate. Bitter, more citrus than piny resin. Sweet and boozy. I like it, but I have to share it. A little goes a VERY long way. Rciesla (3510), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Jun 20, 2008 Bottle. Whoa! This is intense. Pours a light orange apricot body. Hardly any head. Aroma is sweet sweet booziness. Flavor is sweet, sweet maltiness and a big hop profile, what else would you expect at 120ibu’s!!! I dunno this is not drinkable by any means, i mean really utopius clocks in higher and man is that a sipper. I put it down in 45 minutes and dam did that feel rushed. Even post 3 years on the bottle its no more drinkable then before. This is a huge beer! I even feel like im overating this. MrBeerFanatic (344), jamestown, New York, USA Jun 18, 2008 Got one a these off the Internet and was trying to save it but just could not resist the urge to try it. Pours a very deep dark amber with a foamy white head. Has the aroma of sweet hops with a little pine and malt and a little sourness. The flavor is pretty potent, like something an Indian would make and serve it to you not telling you what it is, mixed with a little peyote. What you have here in the flavor is alcohol upfront with a hop driven aftermath, a hint of pine, citrus and cake. Its sweet with a resin/syrupy based mouth feel that is smooth and milky. The alcohol can’t be hidden at this level but still ok, because the hops come through quite aggresivly right after the alcohol. The most potent beer I have ever had. You might as well call this a beer flavored wine or liquor :) Over all I am very glad I tried this bad boy. Cheers! scoobysnak (249), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Jun 16, 2008 Aged since August of last year. Pours pretty clar witha very small amount of tiny particles floating about. Head reduces to a thin layer of bubbles. Smells is very sweet... very sweet indeed. Honestly can’t smell too much hops, some definate citrus but I’m mainly picking up an almost candy sweetness nose. Taste is incredibly sweet, with a touch of intense hops at the end and then the alcohol burn as it makes its way to your belly. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 15, 2008 Malty, extremely hoppy. Color is dark amber. Borderline with a mild liquor. Very specific smell, lots of spices. A bitter smell probably due to the high presence of hops, spices that reminded me of mustard/curry.
A great beer, one to have and to share, remains highly drinkable dpesite the high ABV. hiphop (84), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 14, 2008 Aroma hits the nose with a strong hint of the nose-bite you would feel from a brandy&icewine mix - sickly sweet whiff of apricots, fermenting grapes, alcohol. In a trappist glass it appears opaque, bronze, syrupy. High carbonation dances on the tongue as apricots, grapefruit, and alcohol warm the mouth. Alcohol content masks itself lovely but stands out strong enough to suggest this is not even a "beer." Another $10 bottle and I’ll be loaded... glad I grabbed just one... for now. restless7 (104), Lenexa, Kansas, USA Jun 14, 2008 BOTTLE: 50F. Pours a hazy golden/tan color with thin head, aroma is very sweet and only mildly hoppy, with no hint at the massive abv within. Flavor hits you like a mallet with hops, sweet citrus, and a wave of the strong alcohol following late in the tongue and down the throat with a warm feeling somewhat like mild heartburn. The more I drink the more I notice how strong this brew is which I think detracts from the nice sweet mixture and flavor of the hops. charcot25 (181), Cordova, Tennessee, USA Jun 14, 2008 Pours a light amber with slight white head. Aroma is just like putting your nose in a bag of fresh hops! Has notes of strong citrus (grapefruit, orange, mango) and pine as well as a significant malt presence. The alcohol is noticable and hot, but not harsh. There are also some spicy notes (black pepper and cardamom along with some mint). Finishes remarkably dry despite the alcohol content. Not excessively bitter, but truly the hoppiest beer I have ever had!
