Aroma is definitely hoppy big and available, but honestly it doesn’t outdo other big IPA’s. Flavor bites the tongue hard, unbelievable bitterness, strong heavy alcohol and big citrus punch. Definitely a monster and DEFINNITELY not to drink on all night, but a second one might be nice.... might be. mike mcneil (660), St Augustine, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Ah yes, the Incredible Hulk of all IPA’s. Just pop the crown and take a sniff and you will immediately know you’re in for a hefty smack right upside the head. Pours a slightly cloudy amber-orange color with a paper thin beige head. Amazingly with the alcohol content this thin foam layer persists throughout the snifter. No lacing as expected. Just a huge, complex and unusual aroma profile running the gauntlet from Sugar Daddy caramel candy, American "C" hop resins and sinus clearing ethanol to leather, bourbon, cedar and ripe red apples. Palate is quite full and pleasantly slick for such a strong brew. Just the right touch of CO2 is subtely perceived. Flavors much like the nose; a bit all over the place and distracting but so unique you can’t help but admire it. Just a huge but well balanced conglomeration of sweet caramel malt and fruit notes combined with a firm citrus, pineapple hop presence. No overlooking the alcohol here. Gotta go slow and easy and just sip away and enjoy. I love big beers, but couldn’t imagine doing 2 in one night!! AndyReynolds (281), Wilder, Kentucky, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 27, 2008 Updated: May 19, 2009Dogfish head really out did themselves with this one, IPA lovers rejoice. The 120 Minute IPA is a very smooth beer for the high alcohol content. Pours with a rich apricot color and a thin head. It has the aroma of sweet, citrus fruit and hops. It is a thick beer with a sweet, yet hoppy taste. It is much sweeter than the 90 Minute IPA (I am guessing that is due to the barrel aging), more potent too. Definitely a sipping beer. My favorite, Fo sho!
Second rating: 04/02/2009. Still as good as I remembered. However it was thicker than I remembered, which is not a bad thing. A great beer if you are a fan of a sweeter IPA. gwelch925 (31), Taylor Mill, Kentucky, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 27, 2008 This drink is very potent, I thought that it tasted like a boilermaker, a really good boilermaker. Other flavors were obviously hops, they only dedicated the whole label with one huge hop, and I believe lemon-citrus. The drink is very cloudy, almost opaque, orange/apricot in color with little to no head. A friend of mine could not handle the potency of this brew so I lucked into drinking two of these for the price of one. Strykzone (1468), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 26, 2008 Pours a thick opaque apricot color with a small light golden head. Faint aroma is full of hop, sweetness, and fruit. I had hoped the alcohol would be hidden somewhat but not so. Powerful hops are multi dimensional. While they don’t bring any significant tartness to the beer they do provide layers of bitterness. Sweetness is a major theme to the 120. This beer is over the top in alcohol, hop, sugar, and fruit. It is not a shy beer and is one to sip. Larger gulps are just too overpowering. Drinking this beer is kind of like wrestling with a super model. Your hands are definitely full but they are full of some amazing stuff. Tweety (343), Vancouver, Washington, USA

It was all malt, and downright sickly sweet. When hops fade with character there’s nothing left to balance that out, making it a syrupy mess. tennisjoel (938), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 24, 2008 Cloudy apricot body. Active legs. Creamy lasting off white head. Alcoholic hoppy aroma. Much sweeter than the 90 minute. More of a sugary malt liquor with tons of hops, but they’re balanced out by the sweetness from the ABV. A nice warming burn in the stomach. Very unique and nice beer. Very good sipper I’ll plan on purchasing again. Worth the $9 I paid for it, considering it equals about 4 beers in alcohol strength. phishpond417 (1935), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

Poured a thick cloudy, creamy orange colour with a huge white head. Sticky resinous foam left behind. Aroma is wicked hoppy- mangoe, bananna, pine needles, ganj, and sticky wet hopsteaks. Taste is eye awakening, firm astringent hop-punch to the back of the mouth. Creamy all the way through, extremely citrusy fruits. I enjoyed every minute of it.
