Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

Bottle. Pours dark golden amber with a nice white foamy head. The aroma is strong, massive hops with a little alcohol. The flavor is unique and intense. A huge concentration of hops followed by a nice alcohol burn. Definitely full bodied, yet smooth. More drinkable than you might expect. Very enjoyable.

[Bottle] shared at the Heritage Inaugural Tasting. Pours a cloudy straw gold with a small head of fine bubbles. Huge pine resin aroma, also some alcohol and a lot of crystal malt. Flavor is incredibly strong. Way too much pine in the whole thing. Alcohol is not in any way subtle, but what do you expect. Punishingly bitter. Overall, just too much, even for my taste.

bottle. Aroma has notes of fresh cut grass, citrus, and resin. Medium orange amber hazy hue. Below average sized frothy head that mostly diminished and left a little lace. Flavor is citrus sweet and charged with resin and grassy hops. Sweetness turns to a slight alcohol flavor then quickly to an intense bitterness. Palate is full bodied and soft. Quite crisp for such a full bodied brew and the alcohol is amazingly hidden for 21% ABV. The only hint is the burning in the stomach. Really different brew but good.

Surprising brew. I really can’t believe it has such a high ABV and hoppiness rating. It’s so well masked. Sweet aroma, with hops mixed in. Amazingly smooth, slightly fruity taste, not very bitter at all. This beer is something else, and if you have the chance to try it, I highly recommend you do so.

Tough to call it beer. Almost spirit-like palate. Bitter, more citrus than piny resin. Sweet and boozy. I like it, but I have to share it. A little goes a VERY long way.

Bottle. Whoa! This is intense. Pours a light orange apricot body. Hardly any head. Aroma is sweet sweet booziness. Flavor is sweet, sweet maltiness and a big hop profile, what else would you expect at 120ibu’s!!! I dunno this is not drinkable by any means, i mean really utopius clocks in higher and man is that a sipper. I put it down in 45 minutes and dam did that feel rushed. Even post 3 years on the bottle its no more drinkable then before. This is a huge beer! I even feel like im overating this.

Got one a these off the Internet and was trying to save it but just could not resist the urge to try it. Pours a very deep dark amber with a foamy white head. Has the aroma of sweet hops with a little pine and malt and a little sourness. The flavor is pretty potent, like something an Indian would make and serve it to you not telling you what it is, mixed with a little peyote. What you have here in the flavor is alcohol upfront with a hop driven aftermath, a hint of pine, citrus and cake. Its sweet with a resin/syrupy based mouth feel that is smooth and milky. The alcohol can’t be hidden at this level but still ok, because the hops come through quite aggresivly right after the alcohol. The most potent beer I have ever had. You might as well call this a beer flavored wine or liquor :) Over all I am very glad I tried this bad boy. Cheers!
