mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA May 25, 2008 Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA is a clear amber color with a small and quickly disappearing head. The aroma is light and fruity while being extremely sweet. A dry finish highlights the bitter qualities while the overly sweet taste makes this hard to enjoy. This mimics a port wine. topher40409 (36), gainesville, Florida, USA May 21, 2008 bottle; pours a copper color with surprisingly a one finger head. aroma is lots of american citrus hops and sweet caramel malt. thick as syrup on the palate. with lots of alcohol warmth, not nearly as much as you would expect from a 21% beer. crap loads of sweet malt and caramel with a little bit of hop bitterness. delicate lingering citrus hop after taste. not as much hop flavor and bitterness as you would expect for the "Holy Grail for Hopheads" but all around a pleasant brew. and a great one bottle buzz. dalepryor (172), Paducah, Kentucky, USA May 20, 2008 this is by far my favorite of the dogfish brewery, the smell is hops all the way and the flavor is very sweet and bitter from the hops, just perfect for people who love hops. i will pay the $10 a bottle price all day any day for this. Bill86 (43), Tennessee, USA May 20, 2008 I happen to find this in a liquor store at $8 a bottle and figure well hell i gotta try one. So i did, and i must say....SEX in a bottle. EASILY the best beer I have drank...perfect in every way ....If i had the money this is ALL i would drink. AMAZING! Like an orgasm in your mouth. I am truely in awe.
Bottled of course. WELL worth the 8 bucks. I would gladly pay the same again. I cannot say enough about the epic greatness of this beer. ericandersnavy (1039), crossroads, Texas, USA May 19, 2008 Updated: Mar 4, 2009bottle thanks to swalden28. this is a re-rate. poured a cloudy orange with a thin white head. aroma was paint thinner and some caramel once it started to warm up. flavor was great with orange, caramel, grapefruit, sweet, and alcohol. full body with med-high carb. i really wish the aroma would have been better. this bottle was about 9 months old. Swalden28 (1439), McKinney, Texas, USA May 18, 2008 Updated: Feb 22, 2009Bottle, thanks to freind Kevin.
Pours a deep cloudy orangy, amber color with off-white head. Aroma of lots of malt and alot of hops....also alcohol. Flavor was not what I was expecting, I was actually a little scared at first but the flavor was amazingly balanced. Very sweet malt, very dtrong hop flavor, alcohol is present....has alot of fruity notes as well, orange and mango. Palate was full bodied, low-medium carbonation....nice balanced bitterness.....good stuff!......My brother cringed and could not finish this himself. oteyj (713), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA May 16, 2008 Updated: Mar 3, 2009Pours hazy amber with ok head. Aroma is simply intense. Floral, spicy, grassy, citrusy. It has every imaginable hop element and character. Such depth of flavor and aroma amaze me. Flavor is assaulting. An immediate hop bit is followed by a smooth malt character and sweet, lingering mouthfeel. This is truely a masterpiece. craftycarl21 (510), South Hero, Vermont, USA May 16, 2008 pours a walnut color tinged with orange, very nice frothy head. great hoppy aroma with grapefruit, lemon, and some grass/floral notes. flavor is extraordinary- grapefruit is definitely there with the hops, great depth and a beautiful parabolic style of the flavor on the tongue- crescendos to a flavor peak, then subtly diminishes. mouthfeel is very nice, does not taste like 21%. I might think this beer is underrated. Not for the faint of heart, but really delicious brew.
