Veer (355), Landskrona, Sweden Apr 21, 2008 Aroma: very nice, sweetish, gluelike, heavy hops, pear, pineapple preserves, obscene malt, slightly cheeselike.
Flavour: oh my, nice! Almost frikadeller-like bi-falvour, slightly sourish & metallic, a bit too sweet to match the 90 Minute. Heavy hop & obscene malt aftertaste.
Appearance: peach yellow/orange with fine dessertwine foam.
Palate: smooth, bizarre, fizzy & very heavy. Alcoholic. carl4beer (394), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA Apr 20, 2008 12 oz. 2005 btl. i have waited to rate for smth in my cellar to be ripe. pours dark golden with a small head. aroma is sweet caramel with a little citrus hop. mouthful is attacked by sugar then the hoppy citrus takes hold for a moment before the alcohol note takes hold, as that fades the hops give one more pleasant bitter kick. this is more of an epic hop schnapps. JazzBeerGuns (3), Denver, Colorado, USA does not count Apr 20, 2008 I anticipated this beer for months and months and finally found a bottle once I moved here to Colorado at, not ironically at all, DaveCo, the largest liquor store in the world. It is visually stunning, and the mouthfeel is impossible to get over, but the overall impression was simply that of a novelty. So hopped that the concept of hops as a contributor becomes moot, but not in a desirable way. It surely "tops them all" in regard to outlandish hoppiness, but it can’t top the 90-Minute’s balance and aroma. SuperDave70 (1157), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Apr 19, 2008 Pours a beautiful dark amber with minimal foamy head. Nice aroma of hops and citrus, and then maltiness. Flavor is sweet, sort of unexpected for the style. Lots of hops, but maltiness and grapefruit flavors are definately present as well. Good, but I prefer the 90 min just slightly over this one. morrdt (608), Jacksonville, Florida, USA Apr 19, 2008 Rating #500 for me. 12 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Jacksonville, FL; picked up in March 2007 for the price of $7.99. I just got around to opening this bottle. Bottle is marked "Bottled on 12/18/06 D" in Yellow ink on the bottle neck. Pours a dark amber color with a small head. Aroma is intense with hops and floral notes. Taste is rich, slighty sweet with a touch of floral and what seems like a honey flavor. The sweetness ligers and it has a tender alcohol burn to wrap up. This is CRAZY good beer...I wish I had opened this beer much sooner. I will buy this again. DarkStar22769 (100), Ontario, Canada Apr 19, 2008 I wasn’t prepared for what I experienced with this and it was the final stop during a session. Needless to say it put me over the edge. It poured a wonderfully rich amber with little head; it was almost syrupy in the pour. It was a heavy aroma of malt and hops and chocolate. The dry-hopping is evident. The flavour was full and complex, resonating mostly with the pine hoppiness. The palate was heavy and rich, almost creamy. BlackForestCO (819), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Apr 18, 2008 Updated: Mar 5, 2009On tap. Poured a dark amber-orange color with almost no head. Strong malty aroma with some pungent hops, a bit of citrus, and some alcohol. Nice caramel malt on the entry that leads into a more fruity, citric hop flavor rather than a bitter, earthy hoppiness, but there still is a bit of bitter character in it. A bit of heat on the finish, but considering the abv, it isn’t bad. Thick, viscous mouthfeel. I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Hank1980 (732), Athens, Georgia, USA Apr 17, 2008 Updated: Sep 25, 2008Pours very deep amber/orange, with a minimal head and little lacing. Aroma of thick heavy hops, malt, spice, fruit, and booze. Taste is very nice, with heavy hops and malt. Mouthfeel is very full and syrupy. Citrus is very present, almost like a grapefruit juice finish. Not much alcohol in taste or finish. **** 2008 bottle. Similar with some tannic notes. Oak presence is very distinct in this batch. The oak makes some other fruit flavors stand out, such as pinepple and apple. Very nice variation.
