Aroma is sharp citrus and pine and almost tickles your nose to sniff it. Flavor is surprisingly sweet honey-like over malt with just a touch of the alcohol flavor but not enough to be overwhelming. Finishes with a big warm alcohol effect. On the palate this is the thickest beer of this color I’ve ever seen. Actually feels much like a barleywine on the palate and flavored like one too. Another very unique beer from DFH. I expected more bitterness in the flavor but I enjoyed what I got. Volgon (2490), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

Oily syrupy alcohol mouthfeel, although not bad for 20%. Crisp, sweet and bitter. This is the future of beer. FlacoAlto (2482), Tucson, Arizona, USA

Pours a brilliantly clear, bright copper color. A wispy head forms, but then quickly disappears. Surprisingly it has a medium level of carbonation, which I was not expecting in a beer of this alcohol content. The aroma is of apricot, hops and some brandy-like alcoholic notes. There is almost a smell of candied hops here.
The beer is thick and sweet, yet somewhat light and not nearly as alcoholic tasting as I expected. A fair amount of hop flavor manifests itself as apricot, tangerine, pine, wildflower fields, and a bit of bitterness in the finish. This beer is much more enjoyable than I was expecting from such a beast. It certainly could use a bunch more hop flavor (especially given the billing). In the end though the hot alcohol wins out, and is a bit too much. This is good in a 2 to 4 oz samples, anything else is just too much. KAggie97 (2481), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA

Way overpriced for what you get. I will not be buying another of this when I can get 4 of an as good (or maybe even better) IPA. Loaded with hops flavor. HInts of orange and lemon coupled with an earthy taste are dominant on the palate. The alcohol is VERY well-hidden, so take it easy with this one. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA

I Enjoyed the 90 Minute Better I Think. Definitly some Hops, But Not as Potent As I Expected. Little Bit of Fruit..But That’s About it. ekstedt (2456), Göteborg, Sweden

Strongly alcoholic and sugary, with loads of piney and citric hops. Heavy in body, sweet and cloying. Hugely overrated. unclemattie (2441), Georgia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 18, 2007 Vintage 2003. 12oz bottle. Deep copper color. Creamy foamy head. Alcohol rings floating on the glass. Aroma of floral hops and HEAVY caramel. Sugary sweet. Liquid cotton candy. Simple syrup flavors. HUGH malts. Heavy bitterness in the oily, alcoholic, malt monster finish brings somewhat of a balance to this $8 monster. Alcohol is suprisingly hidden in the... well in the flavor through the finish. Well now it is kicking in. I can’t feel my cheeks! Hell yes!! Happy 31st Mattie. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany

Hoppy nose, yes, but sweet. Orange color, no head. very sweet, more like a barley wine. IMO totally out of style.
