Piney, citric aroma, but with underlying syrupy notes. Minty, big malts. A little citrus. Alcohol is surprisingly understated. Interesting stuff - more like a hop liqueur than a beer, and better than I expected given the lack of balance or drinkability in the 90 Minute. fiulijn (7170), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 9, 2004 Copper color. Lighter aroma than other American IPA’s, excellent taste, very sweet, a bit oily, quite fruity, ending with the strong bitterness. Can’t believe it’s 20% ABV! Sweet flavour with ripe fruits, hops, toasted malt and caramel notes. Ends bitter with warming alcohol. argo0 (6907), Washington DC, USA

Of course the aroma is hoppy, but not overwhelming like you would expect. Floral dominates, with medium sweetness. Some maltiness too, perhaps nuttiness. Amazingly enough, no discernible alcohol aroma. Taste is syrupy, medium sweet, some alcohol but nothing fierce, and oh yes -- hops (floral). Still not the hop bomb you'd expect, not even as hoppy as the 90-minute IPA. You'd never know it was 20% ABV, but there's a definite warming on the swallow. (draft) Very clear amber with small off-white head. Aroma is rich, floral, medium grapefruit, medium sweet. Taste is medium sweet, floral, fruity (raisin, orange), finishing with a mild burn. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 4, 2008 Bottle at EBF 08. Very very hoppy. Way too hot. Very difficult to actually drink. Alcohol just comes through as a burn. Gingerish hot. Some tangerine, crystallised fruit. Too much heat. More or less does settle down to a hot tangerine toddy. TBone (6790), Pori, Finland

Clear copper brown, not much head. Bready, hoppy, bitter aroma. Very portwineous mouthfeel; carbonation, syrapy, bready, sweet. Long hoppy bitter aftertaste, but in the taste hops are overrun by sugar and alcohol. Nice, complex beer to sip. Maria (6265), Thisted, Denmark
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 11, 2007 Thank you After4ever/Tom for this beer, that is among the strongest I ever tasted, but the alcohol is well hidden. The color is very beautiful dark golden and the head is huge, nice and creamy. The aroma is hoppy, hoppy, hoppy.... I find notes of resin, mango, papaya, citrus, pine needles and sweetness. The mouthfeel is oily. The flavour has notes of oranges, sweetness, port wine, preserved plums, grapefruit/citrus, candy sugar, raisins and a light bitterness. It’s very complex, but also very massive, so a small bottle of this beer is perfect for sharing. Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark
