Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

vintage 2003 aquired in a trade w/ Mike. a nice cloudy orange color w/ a fairly small white head laces pretty well. The aging seems to have mellowed the hops down as it’s a nice pretty sweet malty smell w/ a great citrus blend, hints of carmel, and sweet apricots. Palate is big and creamy and thick coats really well warms after swallow. The aging has really mellowed this beer it is got a huge sweet flavor big carmel and apricots and almost like an overripe pear w/ a big citrus hop finish and a nice subtle kick of alcohol in the swallow. Overall this is just great and should always be aged a couple years as it mellows out incredibly well and tastes much better.

bottle shared with Dan. Pours a hazy golden with a medium off white head. Aroma is sherry like sweetness, sugar, hops. Taste is very syrupy and sweet, with hop character yet it can’t match the amount of malt and sugar used in this beer. Not very enjoyable for me, way over the top.

Good amber color, medium sized head that managed to stay around for a decent time leaving a nice lace behind.Sweet aroma with a fairly strong alcohol and hops presence. The taste was kind of harsh IMO,sweet for sure, syrupy and highly alcoholic and the hops seem a bit subdued from all the alcohol, but there are points in the tasting that it seems to some what come together. But over all it doesn't do much for me except give a major buzz.Whether ageing will help this brew i don't know,Maybe. But for now as young and strong as it is i have to pass on having a lot of these around.Just way to much of a good thing.

Amber body, creamy head. Hoppy nose and taste. Quite sweet. Fruit notes, especially grapefruit (as usual). Then the high-ABV kicks in! A hopman’s delight.

ReRate-12oz bottle. pours a deep orange hue with minimal head. Smells like SNCA. Super sweet flavor, almost to much. Alcohol tingle under the sweetness. surupy and thick. I only drank 2/3 of this one before i couldn't take it anymore! Bottle-RBSG-6/28/03. This beer ended what was a entire day loaded with great beers. Aroma was super sugar coated hops fused with alcohol. Copper/hazy appearance with lots of carbonation. Little head, only around the rim of the sifter glass. Super-sweet palate, almost wine like due to its alcohol content. more sweet than hoppy.

Hopscotch and I drank this big bad boy as our capper to a great day and night of beer tasting. This beer is Imperial IPA like none other! Awesome stuff from the bottle. Read HS's review below. We pretty much agreed on everything this beer had to offer. For those who like this style, you have to find yourself a bottle soon. Don't miss out! Sam...is there a 240 in the works? Bring it.

12 oz bottle thanks to JHop. Very thick amber liquid with a smallish head. Aromas were not as hoppy as I had expected. Very sweet smelling and alcoholic. Flavors were more hoppy than the aroma, but not what I expected from such a highly hopped beer. Seemed more like a very viscous east coast barelywine. Good, just not on the same level as an average IIPA.

Wow, tastey beer that will definately kick your ass. Poured a thick cloudy, creamy orange colour with a huge white head. Sticky resinous foam left behind. Aroma is wicked hoppy- mangoe, bananna, pine needles, ganj, and sticky wet hopsteaks. Taste is eye awakening, firm astringent hop-punch to the back of the mouth. Creamy all the way through, extremely citrusy fruits. I enjoyed every minute of it.
