Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

I’ve been waiting for this one for a while, and I am not disappointed. the biggest surprise to me is the fact that even though there is a over-abundance of hops it not overly hoppy flavored as I thought it would be. would you get a rich melody of fruits, caramel, butterscotch and dark fruits. The beer is smooth like velvet. This is one for the record books. You must try this one,

Whoa - potent stuff. Pours a hazy amber with a small diminishing head. Quite sweet and bitter with heay alcohol aromas (...surprice, surprice). Aromas of raisins and prunes, well balanced with the up-front hoppyness. Slightly winous mouthfeel. Otherwize full bodied with a medium carbonation. Dry, warming alcohol finish with mellow, but quite distinct aromas of toasted coffeish malts.

This is something like how I remember the 90 being like when it came in 750s. Gold with next to no head. Qwak is groaning. Nose is sweet malt, alcohol & hops. Dark fruits/barleywiney supermaltbomb. Are you sure this isn’t a barleywine? Rich malt, rasin, swet grapefruit. Smooth body. Wow.

Draft at Gaithersburg MD, DFH ale house. Pours deep amber with big white, diminishing head. Nice lacing. Aroma is (suprise) very hoppy, citrus, pine, some sweet malt and a little alcohol. Flavor is very big with an initial hit of grapefruit, this makes way for loads of sweet caramel malt and alcohol. Finish is bitter, with warm alcohol. Texture is syrupy.

A golden ale with hig carbonation and a stichy white head. Malty sweet, resiny hop, alcoholic aroma. Kind of a biscuty flavor. The 120 IBUs are not very detectable. Neither is the 21% abv for that matter. I can’t tell much difference between 120 and 90.

Good strong aroma. Shamless amount of alcohol, they didn't try to hide it nor could they. Hops are there for a second, then ethanol rolls them over. Certainly unique. Not for "responsible" drinkers!

#700! 12oz bottle. Lively hiss upon opening. No noticeable marking of bottling, but I assume that its quite fresh. Hazy golden amber hue. Thick ring of off-white head. Strong fruity hop nose. Touch of berries and grapes. Citrus and dried fruits. Orange and grapefruit, Raisins and caramel. Stellar aromas! Full bodied and super slick. Immediate sticky sweet palate holds flavors of Raisins and prunes. Great oaky whisky burn. Caramel and molassis. Sticky on the gums and cloying. Long and lingering. Wicked bitterness. Gives you a head wobble, but subsides into this wonderfully thick warming tart bitterness. Mild sherry port notes, with accompanying toffee flavors. This is a HUGE beer! Great complexity and palate. Mouthfeel and aromas are outstanding. Should have split this with a friend, but I was selfish. Evolutionary. In the truest sense, of what beer can become. Cheers to DFH! Now let me get to sippin.

12 oz bottle at my 40 y party, thanks a lot to yngwie! Hazy golden/amber color, lovely big white head. Aroma is hoppy!!! Flavor is very sweet with hops and hops again. Hides the alcohol pretty well.
