Foamy white head that doesn't amount to much. Alcoholic peach aroma with what I think is a hop burn. Both the aroma and flavor remind me of their Raison d'Extra - I imagine two 20% ABV beers would use similar yeasts. The flavor is a pretty consistent mixture of sweet peachiness, bitter hops and alcohol. Finishes with hop notes and a warm alcohol burn. I honestly can't detect all those hops over the sweet syrupy backbone. An interesting beer, but I'd rather have a super hopped beer that exhibits the hops rather than one that tries to balance the hops with overdone sweetness. I know they're there, I can taste the hops on my lips after sipping, but every inch of them is covered in peachy syrup.
I'd like to quote from <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Ratings/Beer/ShowBeer review: "A crude and excessive beer that doesn't taste as if it's been fully brewed out."
Update 3/3/2004 - Much better when drank at room temperature. The alcohol in the flavor still makes me pause, but it's much more enjoyable now, and the hops are more evident about the (still excessive) sweetness. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 16, 2004 A Glowing gold color with a white frothy head. The aroma was slightly hoppy, had a little bit of yeast, but was mostly just like the fake fog at amusement park rides. This shit doesn’t taste like normal beer homebay lemme tell you, it's more like thick maple syrup and lots of alcohol accompanied by a big pile of pancakes. Basically, a breakfast in a bottle. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 25, 2004 Aroma a lot less hoppy than I would have thought. Floral hops but a strong whiff of alcohol cuts the hops. Huge, off-white, fine bubble head. Cloudy orange in appearance. Head is lasting with excellent lace. First sip features a hit-you-over-the-head alcohol mouthfeel. In fact, similar to that in the aroma, the hops is drowned out by alcohol. But, this is still a very nice brew despite being a little over the top alcohol-wise, which I see now is 20?!? It really is too much alcohol to truly enjoy, however. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA

Aroma of citrus and piney hops, sweet grapefruit. Tastes of citrus and pine hops, caramel, sugary, and maltiness. Nice syrupy feel covers the alcholo until your mouth feels the warming affect. Dry and lingering hoppy aftertaste. Thanks Llafoe for sending this. lithy (1725), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 31, 2008 Rating #100. Bottled on 04/17/08. Nice caramel butterscotch color with a finger of off-white head from an aggressive pour. Disappears quickly leaving little laced islands down the side of the snifter. Hops and powerfully sweet malt syrup even from three feet away. Stick your nose in for a powerful whiff of sweetness, floral hops, and a tinge of burning alcohol. One sip is warming but surprisingly mellow. This certainly is great and an experience to have. Does not feel as bitter as the 90 Minute and certainly pushes the definition of an Imperial IPA. I prefer the American Strong Ale designation here. Smooth with little carbonation it has a sticky syrupiness like a nice rum that coats the mouth ever so nicely. It is powerful but not overpowering. The finish is alcohol and hops the bite from each melds into a single characteristic that makes this beer unique. Absolutely a sipping beer, took me nearly two enjoyable hours to go through 12 oz. Excellent. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2004 well i just bought kill bill 2 (having never seen it before) and what better way to celebrate this movie than to drink a beer ive had for 6 months (plus some high lifes). pours out red colored, not much carbonation in it. taste is very sweet, and grassy. but not as bitter as they claim. rogue old crustation is so much more bitter than this, its not even funny- hell 90 min is more bitter even. this is still a good brew, though im not sure its up to normal DFH speed. sure, its great, but is it the "holy grail for hopheads" - no ,thats dreadnaught. goodnight. joet (1709), Fulton, California, USA

Honey, sweet, amazing bitter, sour, awesome, is this phenolic? something medicinal, the alcohol and sugar is taxing but it's effort rewarded by this amazing brew. Taste is bitter with a citrus and pine extract. Lots of malting for balance but this beer is all about the hops. Not sure if I could do more than a bottle but nevertheless, this bottle is great.
