Strong hop content and bitterness tingle the back of the throat. A well balanced beer despite the huge hops and that makes it very drinkable.

Pours a dark, murky orange/copper color with a white foamy head. Nose is lightly hoppy with a bit of alcohol and sugars. Palate is very full and syrupy. Flavors of piney, dry hops, sugary caramel and some alcohol notes. TheEpeeist (1477), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Feb 11, 2007 12 oz bottle. Cellared for about 9 months. Almost clear orange brown with a creamy-frothy beige head. Thick strands of lace. Brown sugar, dough and funky orange. Dusty alcohol underneath. As expected rich and malty with warming sips. Very much to DIPAs what World Wide is to imperial stouts. Starts with cherry and mandarins. Still enough hops around to keep from cloying. Dries lightly with orange peel and slight bitterness. Dangerous candy. IPFreely (1470), Lewiston, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 23, 2004 Big piney/citrus hop aroma, some caramelly sweetness as well. Poured a medium amber color, thin head, with a bit of lace. Flavor is predominantly sweet, much to my surprise. Tasted like an aggressively hopped barley wine. Caramel, brown sugar, alcohol, and some hops round it out. Big body, but alcohol is not very well hidden. Although hoppy, not anywhere near as hoppy as I expected. Pretty good, I just think they'd be better off calling it something other than an IPA because the hops just don't bite. joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 3, 2003 Clear amber w/ small beige head. Nothing but hops on the nose--floral, citrusy, perfume-y hops. Thick, syrupy feel. Intensely bitter flavour w/ quite a lot of sweetness & some alcohol. Not quite what I expected after the 60 & 90 Minute versions. dchmela (1458), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Aug 24, 2007 The legendary IPA! Pours thick, cloudy, and copper colored with minimal head. Aroma is thick and sweet with hops galore. Taste is smooth and thick, a bit of alcohol and hops all over the place. Slight sweetness in the aftertaste like syrup that I wasn’t crazy about. Besides that, this is a wonderful beer that is a classic, but be careful, it will kick your butt! Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 2, 2003 On tap at the Chicago Barrel Aged Beer Festival. The appearance made me think of SA Triple Bock Blonde with carbonation. Thick and very hazy. Apparently this was not filtered either. Extremely hoppy, as could be expected, but in a different way that I was anticipating. Citrus and pine in the form of orange and lemon concentrate and pine sap. However, there was also apricot and lots of berries. The aroma had such strong hints of bitterness, it seemed to be almost sour. Fruity and sweet, it seemed more like juice than beer initially. Almost no bitterness to begin with. However, after you got used to the sweetness the bitterness came out. It was also evident when burping afterward. Creative and different as all hell, but not something I could drink everyday. GreatLibations (1447), Last Supper, Arizona, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 1, 2006 Pours the same amber honey color as the 90 with the same shallow froth and ample effers. The aroma is similar also with the soft citrus rind. The aroma is actually misleading. You think it’s gonna be clean. crisp and on the light side, but on the contrary it’s the exact opposite. This brew is sweet, viscous, and sticky like cotton candy. Dangerously hidden in the wheel well is 21 guage, double barrel ABV that’ll stop an elephant. This babe don’t mess around. The complex flavor profile consists of honey, caramel, orange citrus, peach, apricot, vanilla, cherry caugh drop. Reminds me of Teryaki beef jerkey with an asprin burn on the tongue at the finish. Somewhat Like the chipotle pepper, the asprin shows up later yet continues to burn for sometime. It’s sweet with a steaky earthiness up front but as the nectar warms the steakiness softens, then the sweetness overpowers evrything but the asprin finish. Very well refined like all Dogfish brews, in my opinion. If you like this you gotta try J.W. Lees Harvest Lagavulin cask.
