aroma is lots of hops, alcohol, and some caramel, this is quite a thick viscous beer. flavour is definitely hoppy, not as much as i would expect in a DIPA, and the bitterness is not as pronounced either, i have a feeling the alcohol is cutting it down. The alcohol warming is there for sure......still this is a good beer, i enjoyed it. A true exteme beer, but still drinkable, and the 21% is not as head cracking as expected. well done! Dsnowden thanks for the bottle! nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jul 28, 2008 This monster destroys your mouth from the very first drink. Aroma was, you guessed it, very hoppy. Pours a very hazy gold color with a mild head. Very easy to drink. Well balanced. OldGrowth (1425), North Carolina, USA

Nose wasn't as strong as I would have thought. Cloudy orange looking. Pineapple was exactly what I thought. A fun one to try. Wonder if they'll try selling this one. adrian910ss (1424), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 23, 2005 Pours a bronze copperish color with a very small short lasting white head(Similar to the 90 min IPA). Aroma is very piney, sweet, and citrusy. Taste is a powerful IPA. Very hoppy, with lots of pine, grapefruit and various citrus present. Hard to believe this is 21%. I remember tasting this 2 years ago and nearly spitting it out because it tasted too syrupy and strong. Not this time around. Excellent IPA !! SoLan (1417), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 9, 2005 Updated: Apr 8, 2008(4/09/05)2004. Copper. Big hops and big malts in the aroma, with touches of grapefruit and caramel. Smells big. Head dissolves quickly, but the lacing is practically engraved to the glass. Flavor matches the aroma with a full, syrupy body. Loaded with hops and just enough malts to keep it nearly balanced. [RR 8/1/06]:::> 2004. Gorgeous copper/amber/red pour. Modest, frothy, tan head settles slowly. Nose of pungent resinous hops: citrus, aloe, venom, pine, spicy; lots of sweet and toasty caramel malt for support; some cotton candy like sugar; and subtle alcohol heat. Same flavors along with some complexities gained in the past 2 years. Hints of anise like herbs and spices, trees (bark and core), tobacco, - something about this brew keeps making me think of alligators, especially ones in the everglades, wtf? - graham cracker biscuity notes to the malt, mild alcohol (cooled down a bit) in the finish is like what I think an oak aged gin’s alcohol would be like. Huge body, viscous. Some of the intense sweetness has faded. Great American Strong Ale, doesn’t drink like an IIPA. Cavie (1414), Fort Worth, Texas, USA

Double smell aged with just about everything. Sweet feeling with candied sugar. Wooooo! SO complex and flavorful! My taste buds are going crazy. Similar traits with Avery’s Beast, and very well done. Intense as HELL! Very glad to have gotten to try this one. mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 3, 2003 pours clear amber with a small head and tiny little bubbles. aroma of grapefruity hops, flowers, berries and caramel. super syrpuy mouthfeel almost like a beer/port hybrid. starts fruity with pineapple and citrus, moves into big hops and alcohol, though surprisingly for the beer's ibu and abv, neither is overpowering. quite good and a different kind of beer, better than the 90, not quite as good as the 60. drowland (1407), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

I don’t know if it was the style or not, but this beer was moderately sour and the hop kick you’d expect was practically absent. Still strong and enjoyable, though. I prefer the 90 minute... by far!
Tried again this weekend, and it is very sweet and still tastes a bit too sour for me. A must-try, but still not blown away!
