| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 3, 2003 pours clear amber with a small head and tiny little bubbles. aroma of grapefruity hops, flowers, berries and caramel. super syrpuy mouthfeel almost like a beer/port hybrid. starts fruity with pineapple and citrus, moves into big hops and alcohol, though surprisingly for the beer's ibu and abv, neither is overpowering. quite good and a different kind of beer, better than the 90, not quite as good as the 60. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 29, 2006 12 fl. oz. bottle. Average white head that clings to the glass. Clear light brown. Liquid sugar clouds run through the upper layers. You can actually *see* that this beer is sweet. Caramelly malty aroma. Sweet aromas with some notes of marzipan. Surprisingly little hop character. The malts dominate the aroma. Extreme sweetness, without being cloying. Complex sugars. Syrupy. Not at all bitter, but hops do cover up much of the actual sweetness. The hops are gentle, most likely well hidden by the dominance of malts. Strong alcohol whiffs. Clearly high in alcohol. Cognac-like. Allen (1396), Switzerland
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 9, 2009 Bottled. Courtesy of joss. Appearance: It pours an extremely murky copper beer with a small head. Aroma: Walnut, a lot of caramel, faint coffee, marzipan, cedarwood, moss, geranium, lemon peel, menthol, figs, slight dates; and to my surprise: no hop components which I can relate to! Plenty of character and deeply inviting. Perfumy. Flavor and palate: Full bodied. Sweet. Very syrupy, almost strictly medicinal. Practically no carbonation. Long finish which isn’t bitter at all despite the 120IBUs? Overall impression: Terribly smooth. What a beer! Thanks a lot joss! Magnificent! BeerBiker (1392), Kathmandu, Nepal

Thisone is like a german Eiswine. Very sweet for the style and good for blue cheese, nothing else I think. I’m in doubt of what I shall say about this beer, because I’ve never tasted one like this before. Can a beer indeed taste like this? Ohh, yeah, it’s 21 %, so no problem, and indeed it’s great, but not what I’ve expected, but bullocks with the expectations. A sugarbomb, indeed, but not that bad and maybe it has got some too high notes, but I find it deserves it for this extravaganze flavor. I’ll try it again!!! iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 11, 2003 Oak aged: Looks like juice - a nice orange, pineapple, apricot juice. Aroma fully of pulpy apricots, mixed with raw hops flowers - amazingly fresh fruit flaoburs - dominated by pineapple, some oranages, a sweet grapefruit. . . Dull subtle hops on the palate, but a lingering bitter flavours do come out. Uncompareable to the 90 minute, something amazing happened in the next half hour, but a 750 would probably be a lot to finish. tytoanderso (1387), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 22, 2007 Bottle. Dated 3/29/2006. Pours rich copper amber with champagne like carbonation. Medium sized white head. Very sticky looking. Sweet caramel like hops on the nose. More reminiscent of a Belgian strong ale (Stille Nacht). As iat warms, the alcohol starts to show its presence as well as a candied fruit (apricot) like sweetness. Dry hops begin to assert after a while as well. Syrupy, sticky, viscous and oily on the palate. Decent carbonation. As for the flavor: HOLY SWEETNESS! Maple syrup at first. This beer is really chewy: like a Hershey caramel dipped in Buffalo Trace bourbon. The hops don’t really show until the finish. Alcohol starts to show after about a 1/2 hour. Wow... I’m really confused bu this bee. In this case, the whole is less than the sum of it’s parts. This is almost like a hop-liqueur. I have an ’03 that I’ll delve into in a few years. brewblackhole (1382), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
