Small acidic head that dissapates quickly and leaves an oily cream on the top. Color is red liquor caramel and almost looks like mead. Nose is sugary and of hops and honey. Tastes sweet and creamy but for some reason the hops are not that profound. Bitterness is presant with a medium finish. Good beer but honestly I have had hoppier. jaymobrown (1355), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 4/20 | Oct 19, 2004 Super thick and syrupy. Boot leather taste. Smells like a boiled egg. The alcohol completely dominates, tastes like terrible rubbing alcohol, and consistently burns. There is no texture or flavor here. Absolutely no hops or bitterness, just a sludge of cough syrup with tons of alcohol. This is nearly undrinkable, and has nearly no redeeming qualities. at all. A complete failure considering the relative greatness of the 90 and 60 min. pantanap (1354), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 10, 2005 Updated: Aug 11, 2005This is a paradoxical beer on so many levels. I don’t understand how a 20% ABV beer could be this pretty, but it is. A big creamy layer of golden head, settling in viscous lacing. Bright copper body. Aroma is not really anything I can compare to in the beer world. More like if they were to make some intensely concentrated hop soap. Piney, resiny, grapefruit rind, honey...and kind of a post-thunderstorm clean. Before I can start to register the flavors, I am aware of how thick this feels in my mouth! Even the hairiest of Imperial Stouts I’ve tasted so far don’t come close. Do I chew before I swallow? If not, will it get stuck in my throat? The predominant flavor I get is a very delicious orange marmalade. Sipped gently, the alcohol is very nice, like the vapors of sipping cognac. After a few sips, I am aware of how fantastic the balance is in this beer. Something this heavily hopped could have been horribly astringent and unpalatably bitter. And something this strong could have been syrupy sweet and cloying. But it is neither. It is a taut line of bitter, sweet, and alcohol. This greatly exceeds my expectations. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 16, 2003 Sam from DFH presented the bartenders at Friday the Firkinteenth a bottle of 2003 120 minute IPA. After a long night of draining 12 casks of beer and cleaning the bar myself and another bartender split the bottle. The amount of hops in this beer is overwhelming. As stated before in these reviews this is a sipping beer. It would be interesting to cellar this beer for a year or two, let the hops "fall out" and then sample it. DFH does some inovative beers and even though expen$ive this beer is worth a try. nickd717 (1348), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 29, 2009 This is some really great stuff. Strong as Malibu Rum yet tasty as a top-notch IPA. Dark orange color with a medium off-white head. Sweet, syrupy malt, and hoppy but not as ridiculously as you’d expect. Some may consider the sweetness cloying, but I say the more the better. Syrupy mouthfeel is excellent. One of the more dangerous brews out there as far as drunkenness power goes, as it definitely doesn’t feel like 21% ABV. HonkeyBra (1342), Lemont, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 9, 2008 Ok. I remember discovering this beer about a year ago and scoffed at the price, but I knew, someday, I would buy this beer. I finally gave in today because dudebra was bragging about it. Yeah, it’s ridiculous. The 21% isn’t all that detectable, until you stand up. This smells like hops, and tastes like hops. Crazy hops, huge hops. Like eating raw hops. Oh, and a lot of sweet malt. This ale is so unique, it’s definitely something you have to try at least once.
