Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads.

I cellared a 2003 bottle in the 25.9 oz. bottle. opened and shared June of 2007. poured a deep rich slightly hazy golden orange color, forming an impressive tight white head that held nicely as it laced down the snifter. Aroma was intense and complex with sweet grapefruit, pine, pear, malt and lemon rind? Starts with an explosion of intense malty sweetness of light caramel, pear, grapefruit, blood orange, then shifts to the intense hop flavors of citrus and floralness. Finishes with just the right bittering of orange and grapefriut rind, more malt and a fine smooth alchohol.

Ruby orange pour. Beautiful beer. The aroma is citrus, hops (duh), caramel, fresh flowers, lots of other notes. Flavor is unbelievably balanced for all the hops. Very sweet, but not it the too-much-alcohol kind of way, and also creamy. I am surprised by this one. I have been letting it sit in my fridge for a few weeks because I was afraid of it, but it is actually really tasty. I bought it for the novelty, but I will pay that 7 bucks again for the greatness of this brew. Does it age? I will find out.

Way over the top. I drink alot of IPA’s and this was too much. The hops were almost sour they were so bitter. Full bodied and defiantly a heavy beer, the 90 minute hits the mark for DF’s best

12oz bottle
12.9% ABV (as marked on bottle)
I tried this beer on November 21, 2008 at ‘The Beer Bistro’ in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a solid golden-brown with a thin light tan coloured head. The aroma was floral in nature with some sweet malt. The mouthfeel was full-bodied, creamily thick, with medium carbonation. The flavour was sweet malt, maple sugar, with a strong hop flavour. Unlike the 60min and 90min IPAs, this beer is way too sweet, having something of a barleywine feel to it.

12 oz. bottle - I paid $9.99 for this beer and it better be good. Poured a reddish copper color with thin head. Aroma was strong, Hops and booze mostly. Taste is somewhat smooth for such a high ABV. Its like drinking a well made mixed drink with a nice scent and alot of malt on tongue. I enjoyed the brew and would like another, to bad I only have one. Rating would be higher but price does not out weigh taste.

Bottle (April 2008). Pours orange with a dense off white head that doesn’t go away. The aroma is a bit boozy, but mostly sweet and hoppy, with perfume and fruity sweetness. The body is not as syrupy as I expected and the flavor is not as overpoweringly hoppy as I expected. It is a bit sweet and fruity with perfumey and floral notes. This is a bit over the top, but it’s actually way more drinkable than I thought it would be.
