Surprisingly sweet like honey. The bitterness balances the sweetness and the alchohol is well hidden. This is way more a Barley wine then an IPA. A masterpiece! I have already had 7 of these. One of the rare IPAs where they didn’t need malt to balance out the hops, but vice versa instead! I loved it, and so did the half dozen or so I shared it with. (What? It was a 750ml, I’m not insane!). Glad I didn’t try to down it myself or I may not be writing this today. Wish I had cellared it a lot longer, but patience is a virtue, and apparently I’m none too virtuous. Abel (13), Chicago, Illinois, USA

The taste was much better than I was expecting. The alcohol was pretty well masked. Very sweet taste, and hoppy flavor, but very little bitterness. By far the fullest mouthfeel I’ve had from a DIPA. In that respect, it’s very much like their WWS. Other than that, it’s its own beast. Great beer! BobbyW3363 (154), Birmingham, Alabama, USA

After trying the 60- and 90- minute IPAs I was really looking forward to trying the 120-minute! It more than lived up to my expectations. Though it doesn’t really taste anything like your traditional IPA, this beer is excellent. It pours a nice amber color, and smells both hoppy and malty. The taste is complex; both sweet and hoppy, and surprisingly, the high alcohol content is less noticible in the mouth than one would think. It gives a warming feeling in the chest, but does not burn the mouth or throat. A must try for any IPA fan or Strong ale fan. zamco17 (134), Corpus Christi, Texas, USA

Had this in the fridge for at least a year maybe 18 months. Pours a deep orange reddish hue. aroma slaps you in the face. What a beer!!! Strong and dangerously smooth. Thick thick beer. Could not drink this every day, but hey thats what the 90 is for. Definitely an experience, for those looking for hops look no further. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 27, 2006 120 Minute IPA pours to a beautiful, very bright, deep amber color, with a tight white head that fades, and amazingly, for such a huge beer, with such a lush palate, a moderate amount of carbonation. The nose is amazingly complex and hoppy, with deep aromas of spicy/citric/resiny, pungent hops, paired with some peppery alcohol. The palate is equally complex and amazing, with a slick, silky, and lush mouth feel. Whiskey like flavors of sweet malt, honey, pepper, and undertones of candied citrus hop flavor, glide over the tongue. 120 Minute IPA finishes with more complex malt and hop flavors up front, then ends with a warming, soothing, peppery alcohol burn, that lingers and warms as it goes down.
This is an amazingly complex, and flavorful beer, that is akin to drinking a fine single malt scotch, sherry, cognac, or port. I truly am in awe of this beer, because as huge as this beer is, it remains very drinkable and enjoyable. The palate is so polished and silky, making it dangerous to drink, for such a big beer. This beer clocks in at 120 IBU(bitterness units), 21% abv, and 45 degrees Plato. But as stated, as massive as this beer is, there is complete harmony going on here. 120 Minute IPA is balanced, just on an amplified scale. That being said, this beer does not suit every taste. I know some pretty experienced beer lovers who were not impressed with this beer and found it to be just too much of a good thing.
120 IPA is the ultimate after work, or after dinner beer. I would not dare pair this with food, any more than I would a fine single malt or port. Though, it would be a perfect match with strong and sharp cheeses, much like barleywine is. Savor this one as a relaxing after dinner drink. henrikb (1303), Aarhus, Denmark

Beautiful amber body, beautiful creamy white head (could be a little bigger), beautiful laces; Amazing deep, very balanced well sized incredible settled and elegant nose, the alcohol does of cause show but it is very well fitting; Perfect soft smooth textured body, perfect soft smooth carbonation, super balanced, complex a little to the sweet side, but it clearly touches all elements very elegantly; It moves very smoothly into a long very balanced deep complex finish. A beer very near the PERFECT, I guess this is the most elegant and balanced beer I have ever had from the US. SUPERB! Thanks iowaherkeye. DeuceDeuceOU (51), Athens/Cleveland, Ohio, USA

An expirience I will not soon forget. A sweetness SLIGHTLY masked the hops, which VERY MUCH masked the 21%. I’ve never seen such thick creamy lacing on a glass before.
The hop flavor is heavy, and plenty of bitterness. It has a very thick mouthfeel which I found surprising. What an expirience, I enjoyed every last drop of this brew!
