Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

This one’s certainly not for those with weak constitutions. But at about $9 per 12oz bottle, it isn’t meant to be consumed very often either. This is my first true "experience" beer, and I was very happy that I indulged my curiosities. The taste has a very citrusy start, then a kick of alcohol, and finally fades out leaving you with a citrusy residue. The taste is certainly not for everyone, but everyone should have the experience of drinking a beer this intense.

12oz Bottle. A great beer to go with a special meal. Unbelievably Hoppy taste, but the bitterness fades very quickly towards the end. Certainly not an everyday beer, but excellent nonetheless.

12 oz bottle from Casanova. Pours a cloudy pale orange color with a small wispy head that sticks around. Aroma is... unique as hell to say the least. Obviously the 18% ABV comes through in the aroma with some sweet, malty, fruity notes. Flavor is massive and very complex. Sweet, malty and fruity like the aroma, very hoppy but shockingly this doesn’t taste very bitter to me. Mouthfeel is thick, chewy, syrupy and every similar adjective you can think of, but all in a good way. This stuff just oozes down your throat. This stuff is very different than what I expected, but just as good as I had hoped for nonetheless. Not for the weak of heart but should be saved for the open minded.

Enjoyed at cellar temp. Pours a golden orange. Nose is intense, banana comes to mind, as well as citrus and pine. Taste is wild, as expected. Shockingly sweet, perhaps too sweet, maybe to counterbalance the alcohol. Hops are present but not as much as expected, the alcohol was promininent. Finishes sweet, very mild bitterness. After finishing the bottle, i was a wee-bit dizzy, lol. Overall impressed with the beer, will definetly try again, i feel this beer is the extreme, and you must appreciate it.

Bottle (thanks to HOPSHUNTER!) Pours to a super thick, cloudy hop syrup with a lasting, white head. Maybe it’s the fact that I can’t buy this in Ohio, but I was very highly impressed with this one. While it most certainly isn’t a session beer (I found it a challenge to champ the whole bottle,) it is truly a work of art. More of a cider or nectar than I would have thought. Nose is malt, sweet honey, alcohol and very floral hops. It’s very sugary sweet and thick on the palate. I would love to have this one again. Big ups to DFH for making such a ridiculous product.

Perhaps one of the best smelling beers ever! Far smoother than anticipated. Alcohol burn was far less than expected as well. Very sweet because of the high alcohol and so tastes like hop candy!

Bottle. Pours an orangish color and cloudy with a medium head that disappears quickly. Lacing is excellent. Aromas of citrus, wine, and a bit of grapefruit. Creamy start, oily in the mouth, and sticky finish. LIvely carbonation but surprisingly smooth for such a powerful beer. Tastes of citrus, grapefruit, with a very nice aftertaste of port. Almost the perfect taste for a beer!

Appearance: very cloudy reddish orange; virtually no head; whatever there is, it is an off-white Aroma: Well, you do get some alcohol; can have a bit of a nail-polish aroma mixed in with some hoppy citrus fruit; very complex and fascinating at the same time; it’s complex, but not all aromas inside are good ones Flavor: Once again, probably the best part to this beer; the citrus fruit from the massive hops finally comes to the front and center; probably about as good as the flavor can be given the massive size of this beer; seemingly infinite off-dry fruity finish; alcohol is noticeable but fairly well-balanced
