The aroma is complex - malt, hops and a definite hint of alcohol (imagine that!) along with some fizzy carbonation nose feel, almost a combination of champagne and beer. The first sip is amazing. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it definitely wasn’t this. A rich, sweet malt flavor with a zing to the finish. I expected the hops to dominate, but they really play a supporting role to the malt. The combination of the two is like nothing I’ve had before, wonderful. I will definitely pick up another for aging. Also, other than the first wiff, the alcohol is barely noticeable until you start feeling tipsy towards the end of the glass. Almost liqueur-like. Syrupy pour, beautiful orange glow. Apples and citrus on the nose. Sweet hop flavor, no hop bitterness until the finish. I was feeling the alcohol by the time I was halfway through with it. Very good beer emerica56 (583), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA

It has a cloudy orange color and the head fades very quickly. As you sip on it you taste strong tang and a lot of booze. There is also hints of hops, the bite very faint. Overall this is a really good IPA considering it is very boozy. The after taste is very sweet as you drink te beer it tends to be very smooth and the flavor is much like clove and citrus. tarjei (1753), Bryne, Norway

Was an expensive bottle in the best place in tokyo for buying beer. Bought only 2 beers over there. But because of the high price and no idea abouth the strength. I brought it back to Belgium. To taste it on my own. Very hoppy and very complex beer. I wish i bougth some more bottles of it so my friends could taste. After a time the taste of alcohol is a little too mucht and a less nice tast is coming iver it dra19 (89), holland, Michigan, USA

I thought there would be more hops, but I think the alcohol covers them up. Lots of caramel taste, not enough grapefruit. Thick and malty taste. Took me an hour to drink half the 12oz. Loved it! gmcase (113), Indiana, USA

It is very extreme. It tooks me like two hours to drink this but I could probably have done it in one. One sip at a time is feels like one beer at a time. Like all dogfish IPA’s it has that sweet maple like flavor to balance out the insane hops. The alchohol passes off very well. Personally I just prefer the bright citrus hop flavor. Dogfish has a maltyness which is interesting but different and even if I don’t like it as much at least it is a distinctive mark of thier work.
