| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 21, 2006 Pours a yellowish-orange with small beige head. Aroma is caramel, apple, citrus. Syrupy and sweet. Bitter finish with alcohol burn, but masked pretty well considering the monster 21% ABV. earendil (3), Bellingham, Washington, USA does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 31, 2005 Beautiful caramel colour, hop aroma is not as strong as I would have expected, nor is the hop flavour. The flavour is instead sweet caramel malt with a light hop balance. finish is strong and warm. SudsMcDuff (1703), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 19, 2005 This is actually very very nice........FULL is the word...good smooth ?creamy? mouthfeel...sweet but not sweet or syrupy....4 me at least, i’m a hophead and a barleywine addict and this is just wonderful! Great lacing and ample head to go with with the sunset! orange ...this is a fine powerful brew and needs to be respected for its smoothness, its crazy good sweet bitter 1-2 combo, and its massive and almost completely masked alcohol! If this wasn’t so hard to find and so expensive i’d have this in my fridge always! u crazy shark! jungle massive! jonboy32818 (30), orlando, Florida, USA

Pours straight bronze with a thin creamy head. Pine aroma with no hint of alcohol. Better let it breathe a little because after the wonderful first taste of hops there was harsh alcohol aftertaste. I had to walk away for a few minutes. After that nothing but beautiful bitterness and a slightly sweet finish. sneagrams3 (1759), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | May 11, 2007 #700! 12oz bottle. Lively hiss upon opening. No noticeable marking of bottling, but I assume that its quite fresh. Hazy golden amber hue. Thick ring of off-white head. Strong fruity hop nose. Touch of berries and grapes. Citrus and dried fruits. Orange and grapefruit, Raisins and caramel. Stellar aromas! Full bodied and super slick. Immediate sticky sweet palate holds flavors of Raisins and prunes. Great oaky whisky burn. Caramel and molassis. Sticky on the gums and cloying. Long and lingering. Wicked bitterness. Gives you a head wobble, but subsides into this wonderfully thick warming tart bitterness. Mild sherry port notes, with accompanying toffee flavors. This is a HUGE beer! Great complexity and palate. Mouthfeel and aromas are outstanding. Should have split this with a friend, but I was selfish. Evolutionary. In the truest sense, of what beer can become. Cheers to DFH! Now let me get to sippin. saxo (3641), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 16, 2005 Pours a pretty reddish orange with a faint trace of head. I want to let it warm up a bit, but the appley brown sugar aroma is too dang inviting, and I just have to take a sip. I’m getting a contact buzz off the aroma, it’s like a rum raisin coming off this thing. It’s like liquid gold in my mouth, heavy, creamy and full of flavor. A cornucopia of fruits and rum apple sugar cake. It’s got the depth of a great belgian triple. There’s a slight hint of fire on the finish and tons of flavor. These guys have outdone themselves. Bravo. If my birthday cake could be a beer this would be a strong candidate.
