Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

Very strong. The aging and complexity really tends to mask the hoppiness to me. Very opaque amber in color, fruitiness and a bit of floralness. Very small head. The alcohol and bitterness are well within reason; it almost seems as though it should have more punch and not be so drinkable. You will certainly feel the effect of it through one bottle. Absolutely one to try.

Orange-amber color, hoppy aroma but not monstorus like I expected. Have rerated this because I have deveopled a great respect for whats going on here. So far back in the pile noone will ever read this, but I am upping my rating. Still to expensive, bit I would buy it again

Pours the same amber honey color as the 90 with the same shallow froth and ample effers. The aroma is similar also with the soft citrus rind. The aroma is actually misleading. You think it’s gonna be clean. crisp and on the light side, but on the contrary it’s the exact opposite. This brew is sweet, viscous, and sticky like cotton candy. Dangerously hidden in the wheel well is 21 guage, double barrel ABV that’ll stop an elephant. This babe don’t mess around. The complex flavor profile consists of honey, caramel, orange citrus, peach, apricot, vanilla, cherry caugh drop. Reminds me of Teryaki beef jerkey with an asprin burn on the tongue at the finish. Somewhat Like the chipotle pepper, the asprin shows up later yet continues to burn for sometime. It’s sweet with a steaky earthiness up front but as the nectar warms the steakiness softens, then the sweetness overpowers evrything but the asprin finish. Very well refined like all Dogfish brews, in my opinion. If you like this you gotta try J.W. Lees Harvest Lagavulin cask.

Bottle I am rerating this one. It is one of my favorite beers. Pours a hazy copper orange with a deminishing light tan head. The lacing is great. The aroma is great pine, alcohol, caramel, and earthy. Has a great carbonation. Mouthfeel is excellent. The alcohol burn is very mild considering the %. Has good flavor. Not too bitter but well hopped. The balance is great. Has a resinlike texture. The finish is awesome with a perfect aftertaste. This beer is still the mecca.

This is almost as perfect as it gets. This beer actually offers complexity. It changes over time and you get to see it evolve. Even with the big alcohol %, the nice deep flavors show off well. One of the best out there!
