Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

Poured a nice coppery color into a brandy snifter. Light carbonation. Smelled sort of like hopped madeira would smell like; sweet but with a powerful nose of alcohol (and obviously hops, in this case). Flavor was very sweet up front, mouthfeel was huge and almost chewy, and the hops surprisingly subdued given the IBUs. Finish was ever lingering, and was somewhat alcoholic with a subtle burn in the back of the throat, and consisted mostly of powerful yet balanced hops and sweetness. Very well done given the hugeness of it all.

Dark gold with a small white head. Luscious, sweet aroma with raisins, citric hop notes of grapefruit with apricots, some definite whiffs of alcohol, and a tang like fresh hardwood mulch. Flavor starts as superhoppy (duh)--bitter grapefruit. Then a sticky sweet caramel backbone comes on, enhanced by hints of apricot and almonds. Very warming, but little alcohol present in the flavor. Finishes bitter and sweet. Hope they can repeat this gem.

Copper color. Lighter aroma than other American IPA’s, excellent taste, very sweet, a bit oily, quite fruity, ending with the strong bitterness. Can’t believe it’s 20% ABV!

Bottle. Jeez, 20.04%!?!? Ridiculous! What a dangerous beer, I DON'T taste that much alcohol at all. It's not an overhopped IPA either, it has a strong malty backbone to compliment the sweetness and citric flavors that dominate throughout the whole thing. An almost gueze-ish like finish, with a nectarine-like mouthwatering finish. Spectacular.

Glowing clear orange color with a small white head. Very sweet malt, honey and hops aroma. Extreme malt, honey, citrus, alcohol and hops flavors. Very thick feel, with a strong hop and alcohol bite. Extreme in every way!

Drink this slow and savor it. You're worth it. Brilliant amber and surprisingly clear with a thin halo of head that leaves a few spots of lace with each sip. Earthy hop aroma with a hint of sherry sweetness. Big and thick with a good deal of carbonation for such a high-gravity beer. Very sweet, vinous, and fruity but that's easily balanced by the insane level of earthy bitterness. Sort of a cross between WWS and 90 min--sort of... Really, drink this slowly. I didn't like it much at first but after a couple hours of slow sipping, it was a new favorite. It takes time for the flavors to really bloom and they change quite drastically with temperature.

Golden color with a lasting white head. This one had been sitting in a refrigerator for many months. Srong hoppy aroma, balanced with the sweet aroma of malt and a bit of alcohol. Well balanced flavor. Not too sweet, not too bitter. This beer is amazing, for something so huge. The alcohol takes a back seat to the meshing flavors of hops and malt. Well made and a must try.

dark amber orange color. smells like a hell of a lot of hops. superb mouthfeel, just the slightest alcoholic tingle (20%? how??). hops on the palate everywhere except the finish, which is sticky and malty sweet. lots of hoppy flavors, like grass, grape, pear. coats your mouth like syrup. awesome beer.
