Commercial Description:
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

What a Gem. Poured a smooth deep yellow. Not much head. Smelled like cotten candy and caramalized sugars. It coated the palate with a silky blanket-like coat. The finish was hot! Heated up the ears and senses. Delicious for a sipping beer. Another brilliantly brewed elixer from the town of Delware in the state of Dogfish Head.

[bottle] Pours a clear amber, with a bubbly off-white head. Aroma is strong pine/hop resins. Thick, syrupy mouthfeel and immediate sweetness! The sweetness dominates, then the alcohol warms the palate- I was expecting more bitterness with this brew, but the fruity, floral sweetness takes over and fills the mouth. I expected a lot from this beer, and it provides, but I’m not sure about it being the "holy grail for hopheads". I’ll take the 90 minute for a hop assault, the 120 is a freak of nature.

I cellared a 2003 bottle in the 25.9 oz. bottle. opened and shared June of 2007. poured a deep rich slightly hazy golden orange color, forming an impressive tight white head that held nicely as it laced down the snifter. Aroma was intense and complex with sweet grapefruit, pine, pear, malt and lemon rind? Starts with an explosion of intense malty sweetness of light caramel, pear, grapefruit, blood orange, then shifts to the intense hop flavors of citrus and floralness. Finishes with just the right bittering of orange and grapefriut rind, more malt and a fine smooth alchohol.

12 0z bottle purchased from Oak Tree.Poured out to a brownish-red color with a small, quickly dissappearing head.Aromas of citrus, molassas, malt and caramel. There are also those aromas reflected in the taste as well. This reminds me of a real powerful barleywine.Deeeelcious!!

Aroma is strong, hoppy, and surprisingly fruity - the orange and hop aromas battle for dominance, so one whiff is hoppy while the next is of orange. It pours a hazy orange-amber with a fairly thick and rather persistent white head. Flavor is richly orange and a little sweet with a firm hoppy but only slightly bitter hop undertone. This is quite unlike any IPA I have ever had - well worth the effort of setting up a trade! Texture is rich and silky smooth, yet fairly tingly and lively.

Bottle courtesey of WeeHeavySD. The best birthday present I got. bottled 5/2006. opened 8/2007. Aparently this was about the perfect age. Poured a dark copper color with a large slightly off head head, filling my Duvel Tulip. Aroma was intense, sweet citurs malt, brown sugar and honey. There was to hint to the alcohol. Flavor burst in my mouth with complex sweetness. honey, lemon, orange. the finiish had some hop flavor with pine and grapefruit, but almost no bitterness. Left a stick coating in my mouth, but in a goodway. Slighly warming, but i had no idea more than one-fifth of this bottle was alcohol. Crazy awesome brew. Thanks so much Jon.
