Pours a very heavy texture with an orange color. This beer is so heavy that the bubbles look like they are struggling to rise to thetop. Moderate white head that hold to the end. Big fuit andsweet malt on the nose. Alchol is present, and you would think it would be at 21%. Taste is more of a barley wine than an IPA. Fruit, sweet malt, big hops, and alchol on the palate. Finishes sweet, warm and strong. Very good. dchmela (1452), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Aug 24, 2007 The legendary IPA! Pours thick, cloudy, and copper colored with minimal head. Aroma is thick and sweet with hops galore. Taste is smooth and thick, a bit of alcohol and hops all over the place. Slight sweetness in the aftertaste like syrup that I wasn’t crazy about. Besides that, this is a wonderful beer that is a classic, but be careful, it will kick your butt! rbsparks (7), USA does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 1, 2007 plesant smell, great color and the 21% alcohol is amazingly supressed. great beer overall, but at 9 dollars a pop it good on special occasions Russo (595), Campinas, Brazil

A Cloud amber color with a nice beige head, aroma is complex, with fruit notes of apple, malt, some light alcohol. Flavor is strong, you can feel the balanced taste between the sweety and bitterness, with very smooth alcohol. Mouth feel is a little bit dry. What a beer! IlanMan (846), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 4, 2008 Updated: Sep 5, 2008Purchased at Bodega Brewpub in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Poured an orange color with a short lasting white head. Aroma of Strong hops and citrus. Taste of heavy hops , sweet citrus, but barely any alcohol. The alcohol is hidden so well that I would believe someone if they told me it was an 8% alcohol beer. I get the warm feeling while swallowing this beer with a slight aftertaste of alcohol but otherwise, it is completely hidden. The 90 minute IPA has more of a hoppy character than this one. Dogfish Head seems to have found the perfect balance between hops and alcohol. Would most definitely buy again. In fact, I would go out of my way to buy this one again. Very impressed. skoll (135), Traverse City, Michigan, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 20, 2009 Bottle bought in spring 2009. Great bright orange color, whitish head. Aroma of peaches, grapefruit, peat, honey, pine. Sweet, tingly flavor of citrus--name a citrus fruit, it’s in there. Pine hops give the pucker but honestly it’s not too bad. There’s an underlying alcohol base but it’s not distracting. This is hop honey syrup and it’s oh so good. leeburg (149), Juneau, Alaska, USA

I was a little nervous for it and thought my stomach might hurt from it. Pleasantly surprised. Golden pink, spicy, grapefruity, piney. Sweet and hoppy. Quite hard to believe it’s 21%, until you’re done and stumbling around. sjolles85 (90), Tampa, Florida, USA
