From a bottle. Nice orange-yellow with slow rising low carbonation. Generous white frothy head produces decent lacing. The aroma is very spicey, herby, grassy. there’s loads of quality hops in here. The flavour continues to deliver with more spices and herbs, sweet lemon citrus, with a suprising grapefruity backend that mixed extremely well with the bitterness. There are touches of caramel and honey in there. It’s complex! Very smooth palate, with slight fizz beside the bitter hops, biting at your tongue and cheeks.

(12 ounce bottle) Citrus and hoppy aroma. Great lacing and head retention. Perfect amount of bitterness, citrusy floral hoppy taste. Nice aftertaste a little on the bland side but overall I think its great.

This is about as "basic" a high end IPA as I’ve ever had. It’s not dull, it’s actually quite flavorful, but the taste does not really stand out to me at all among the mountain of IPAs I’ve drank. Appearance is equally run-of-the-mill. Smell and mouth are both very nice. There is nothing whatsoever "wrong" with this brew, it is a well above average IPA, but somewhat disappointing in comparison to the outrageous 90 minute.

Nose is straightforward hops - not much of anything else. Flavor is the same, piney and light grapefruit to start. FInish is a little dirty, some caramel malt and apricot shows up and instead of complementing the hop bitterness, it just overtakes. Drinkable IPA, pretty average and unbalanced as noted.

Heavy and pleasant hop aroma, flavor and bitterness. I’ll admit it, this beer has got it going on as far as the hop profile is going on. The problem comes in the taste and palate. There is simply not much to be appreciated in this beer outside of the fact that there is a ridiculously large amount of hops in it. Taste is thin and light. the palate is left super dry, which accentuates the hops, but does little in the way of pleasing malt. Go with the 90 min.

Mild resinous hop aroma, with something odd and ineffable to it. Golden colour with slight orange tinge. Flavour is very hoppy and slightly buiscuty with distinct coffee character. Insane.

Nice, light copper color. Totally clear. 2+ fingers of fluffy, off-white foam head. Great retention and great lacing, also. Naturally, hops are upfront, here. They are not totally overpowering, though. (Granted, this bottle is 6 months old, so they could have already mellowed a bit.) Nice floral hop notes, with a citrus and pine background. Slight hint of some malt presence. Butterey yeastiness, in the background. Minor caramel notes. Big hops here also, naturally. Very herbal and grassy. Bit of citrus flavor, too, mostly lemon with a hint of orange. Biscuity yeast taste mixes with a hint of malt sweetness. Touch of spiciness on the finish. Not nearly as ’big’ as I expect from an american IPA. Mouthfeel is light, crisp and clean. Would be an excellent summer brew. I’m not huge on IPA’s, but if I were going to purchase one, this would be right around the top of my purchase list. This is a good, solid, yet unoffensive IPA.

So heres my problem. this is a really nice IPA and got me excited about DFH as a brewer but EVERYTHING else Ive had from DFH has been dissapointing. This is a good east coast IPA with west coast flavor which for most american IPA fans is what your looking for.
