Commercial Description:
Johnny Cask has entered the building! We’ve retrofitted a 15 barrel tank to perfectly produce a very special cask conditioned ale (so, we have a little time to play around during winters at the Delaware coast). This beer, known as Dogfish Head 75 Minute IPA is a blend of 60 and 90 Minute IPAs with a special whole leaf cascade dry-hopping session. Post-hopping the beer gest transferred into firkins and dosed with fresh yeast and maple syrup from the ole family homestead (actually the first batch will be re-fermented with maple syrup from the farm up the road from ours since ours won’t be ready until late March.

Only the ratings for single-cask pours of this should be rated. The 50/50 blends of 60 and 90 where they come from different taps are not rateable, and do not belong here.

My favorite all time IPA, the Alehouse 75 is a 50/50 blend of Dogfish Head 60 minute and 90 minute IPAs, and is a very nice pour. Any time I’m at the alehouse with friends, I recommend it.

On cask at the brewpub in Rehoboth. Pour was amber colored with a generous huge white colored head that gave great lacing all the way down. The thing on cask was beautiful. Aroma of rich citrus and grapefruit. The flavor followed, but was much lighter in body than the 90 and much more drinkable. A very fine IPA but a tad on the sweet side. I could have used a bit more of a roughing up from more bitter hops!

Draft pours a slightly hazy golden color with a creamy thick head. That head lasts and lasts. Aroma of sweet fruits, pine and citrus. A bit of earthiness in there too. Nice bittereness followed by a nice sweet fruitiness. The bitterness matched the aroma. The mouthfeel was amazing. So smooth but nicely bittered. What a nice beer and I am not one to toot the horn of DFH, but well done.

Cask from the brew pub. Color was an orange redish color with a small head. Aroma is of citrus hops and some oak. Taste was quite nice but the alcohol stood out alot. Very warming and tasty.

Cask from the Rehoboth Beach brewpub on July 23. Orange/yellow color, nice citrus aroma. Very smooth/thick mouthfeel due to cask. Good lacing on the glass. Great balance of malt and hops. Tastes more like the 90 rather than the 60 but doesn’t quite pack the same punch of alcohol. Would like to get back to have some more. Very drinkable, but not too many! Great name and even better sign.

Cask at the brewhouse in Rehoboth. Cloudy, yellowish color with a nice, frothy head. Aroma of lovely hops. Some citrus as well. Nice, warm, earthy taste. Very chewy. Nice balance. Definitely can see the mix between 60 and 90. And I like the cask style. Very nice.

Cask handpull at White Horse, Parsons Green. Copper gold, slight haze, lasting thin beige head. Good tangerine flavour, little bit boozy if being honest. Almost a cognac edge. Not really overly bitter.

Cask at the White Horse, Parsons Green, 3rd July 09. Great name, good beer. Hazy amber with a persistent white head. Sublimely smooth with a creamy palate. Wonderful maple syrup notes on the tongue. Nice hoppy aroma, good flavour, extremely drinkable.
