Esquire Magazine calls our 90 Minute I.I.PA., "perhaps the best I.P.A. in America." An Imperial I.P.A. brewed to be savored from a snifter. Bottle. One of my favorite beers, but I saved drinking one for a review until my 90th review. The 120 minute gets to be rating 120. Pours a clear golden amber with a very large cream colored head which slowly deflates leaving a little bit of lacing on the sides of the glass. Clean pine aromas with a hint of lightly sweet citrus greet the nose. Mouthfeel is velvety smooth and quite thick, enveloping the tongue. A bit of sweet, subtly raisin like malt leads into a very slowly developing gentle grapefruit bitterness. The 9% abv here is astonishing since I can’t detect a hint of it, it is that well hidden.

12oz bottle and tap. Clear copper in color with a two finger fluffy head that recedes with nice lacing. Muted hop aroma with notes fruit. Some sweetness and a bit of grain are also there. Smooth and malty up front. The hops show up in the middle with a hint of orange zest. There is a decent bitter bite to the finish. Very well balanced throughout!

Clear orange with medium white head. Aroma of flowers and banana. Big hops of course, but also some tones of citrus. Very dry finish. Good one.

On tap at the Dogfish Head pub in Falls Church, Virginia. A truly exceptional IPA. Just when I thought I understood what an IIPA was all about - Titan. This just blew me away. Great balance - the threat of phenol a la single malt scotch, which remains just that, strength and bitterness in perfect harmony. They also serve a black-and-tan with this and Chicory Stout, which is superb. Pity we cannot rate blends on this site.

Sampled at the Great Decatur Beer Tasting Festival in Georgia on 10/18/08. Golden in color. Pine hop aroma. Taste was nice balance between pine hops, grapefruit and malt. I am not a hophead, but this one was good.
