smetrick (10), Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 17, 2008 12 oz bottle poured into tumbler. Tawny color, translucent. minimal, quickly dissapating white head. Low carbonation. Very little on the nose (probably because of my glass). Tastes of brown sugar, toast, spice, and pepper. Very long finish lingers on the palate with juniper flavors. Great flavor. Proof that a great IPA doesn’t have to be a puckered up hop bomb. Watch out! This drinks easy at 9.1%! It’s a creeper.
ps- better than Hopslam
poolboy (28), Lafayette, Indiana, USA Nov 30, 2008 Orange color. Typical imperial IPA taste except I noted a hint of banana. A very good imperial IPA, but not the best. fredandboboflo (715), East Setauket, New York, USA Nov 30, 2008 Bottle, consumed about a month after bottling. Aroma of bready, almost doughy malt, and an odd concoction of hops, floral, perfumy, grassy, maybe some woodsy spiciness in there. Flavor gets rather unpleasant with the odd, semi-spicy, semi-floral hops not meshing well at all with the intensely bready malt. Just didn’t agree with me, though I know I’m in the minority. GreggG (4), Spokane, Washington, USA does not count Nov 28, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Tons of floral hop notes in the aroma. Nearly no head, just a ring of white bubbles around the perimeter of the glass. Appearance is clear with a lovely dark orange color. Long finish with a strong bitterness of grapefruit. Excellent IPA. beeranarchist (179), Aalborg, Denmark Nov 27, 2008 Bottle. Golden with white head. Fruitish hop aroma with some cabbage, apricot and resin. Very oily, almost like syrup. Bitter but also very sweet flavour. A bit to oily and sweet, but still very good. kcmo19 (71), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA Nov 27, 2008 A nearly perfect IPA. It smelt incredible, and the flavor was almost just as good. Maybe a little too bitter? That’s about all I can find to say that’s bad about it.
