t4h2c0 (47), seattle, USA Oct 8, 2007 I used to like this one a lot better, not hoppy enough anymore. It is almost too balanced, the more u drink the less hoppy it gets. Still an awesome beer. Dont serve too cold it makes it less hoppy.
Pastor (232), Maine, USA Jul 18, 2008 This was my go to IPA for years
Bottle poured into a pint glass produces a finger worth of white head on top of a clear copper colored body the head leaves a good amount of lacing
Aromas of citrus hoppy goodness fill your nose.
A good amount of malt flavor for a DIPA but the hops bitter is still there for your hop fix. Medium mouthfeel good carbonation for your tongue
Highly drinkable but I would keep myself to two a sitting because of the alcohol will sneak up on you. Like I said my go to DIPA for a long time
smetrick (5), Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Jul 17, 2008 12 oz bottle poured into tumbler. Tawny color, translucent. minimal, quickly dissapating white head. Low carbonation. Very little on the nose (probably because of my glass). Tastes of brown sugar, toast, spice, and pepper. Very long finish lingers on the palate with juniper flavors. Great flavor. Proof that a great IPA doesn’t have to be a puckered up hop bomb. Watch out! This drinks easy at 9.1%! It’s a creeper.
ps- better than Hopslam posikyle (153), Alabama, USA Jul 16, 2008 Probably one of the best beers in the world. Pours a nice bronze color with a thick head a a big piney aroma. Flavor is malts with a floral/pine hoppy middle a nice crisp finish. Definitely one to pick up. ilherps (38), USA Jul 16, 2008 This beer made a big first impression on me. The aroma is of sweet citrus and hops, with some coffee added in. Color is clear amber. Starts with a finger of white foam and leaves no lacing on the glass. The flavor is big. At first there’s sweet maltiness followed by a very nice, balanced hop finish. This one seems to start sweet then finish dry. There is also the flavor of coffee and some citrus, making this a very distinct, versatile beer. Very good. MuttyD (39), Cambridge, USA Jul 15, 2008 Orange/amber in color with thin white head. Floral/hoppy aroma that persists throughout. Huge amounts of malt sweetness as it moves across the tongue. Finish is long and bitter. This is a beer for hop heads. Hands down the best Double IPA I have ever tried.
