Don’t listen to anyone who says this beer has little or no head and tastes like alcohol- the flavors in this beer are abundant- and it pours nicely if you know how to pour an imperial style beer- Probably my favorite DFH "production" beer-

Light lacing on the glass that seems to hang around. Aroma of Raisins, hops some alcohol. Slight woody aroma with a citrusy tang. Aroma gets stronger as the beer warms. Slightly crisp mouthfeel from the bubbles. Taste of hops, honey, alcohol, dried fruits and rosemary. Some citrus flavors as the beer warms. Very well balanced with nothing too overpowering. Yummy. I would drink several of these or add them to the regular rotation if it weren’t so expensive tilldeath (91), Arvada, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Dec 29, 2009 While, going from the 120min. to this is a big difference, they are still both to sweet for my liking. The 120min. I can only drink about 3-4 oz. before I’m so overwhelmed I no longer enjoy it. I can make it through this, but would not want a second. Will give the 60min. a shot with higher expectations, not my favorite IIPA. strowlands8 (92), Ontario, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 28, 2009 pours amber with a medium off white head. what i really liked about this beer is the big hop flavour backed up by a considerable amount of malt. You get some nice citrus and pine flavours with lots of caramel and toast in the background. Very nice on the palate leaving not much of an aftertaste. A great beer. neuromatt (2), Ontario, Canada does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Dec 26, 2009 12 oz. bottle picked up today from Premier Gourmet in Buffalo. Served in Dogfish Head snifter. Deep copper-amber, clear with solid carbonation. Thick white head. Fresh caramel-citrus aroma. Well-balanced with sweet caramel malts and sharp citrus hops. Medium-full body. Notes of pepper. Long hop finish. Well balanced throughout and very well put together. Definitely one of the best double IPAs out there--one to keep on hand in the cellar. jimmythechippy (43), , Australia

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Tasty and delicious! Pours a gorgeous coppery-orange with an ample white head. Hops come out clearly in this, but the malt is what makes this a great beer. I’d love to pair this with some food - I’m particularly thinking roasted meat with cheddar or blue cheese... Alcohol is well hidden and could really sneak up on you. Toxygen (368), Sanford, Florida, USA

solid backbone of crml-malts with tons of hops dancin’ all over their face.
hops are thick and oily but not quite overwhelming.
too IPAish for me the first time i had it, too much oily hop flavor or something like that. but now i love it, and it’s one of the only beers that i enjoy drinking out of the bottle because it changes the flavor in a way i don’t mind or maybe even like. Ceebs25 (242), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 17, 2009 12 oz bottle. The balance of this beer has always really stood out to me. It really is perfect in that aspect. As far as the aroma goes, it really is more mild than you would expect from a hop bomb. Non-hop notes on the aroma include a light oaky bourbon, nutty caramel, apple pie, and other mild fruits. Also some earth, mixed citrus, and light resin on the hop side of things. Lighter white head on the pour, minor lacing and retention, medium opacity, and dark orange in color. Again, balance is fantastic in the taste, and a nice feel as well with a light crisp bite throughout. A lot of mild wood and fruits here, apples and apricots, along with some earthy pine, bitter citrus, minor bourbon, and mixed grain cereal. The finish is very evened out for dipa. Everything here works very well together. This is a very nice beer overall.
