| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 21, 2009 I’m not really a big fan of this one. It has strong scent of malts with very little hops. I can hardly pick up the apricots. Tastes of bitter hops and malts. Has a very little hint of fruit but nothing at all to be considered a fruit beer. Aftertaste leaves an unpleasant bitterness having me wonder why Dogfish Head would put such a product out there. jahmokie (14), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Mar 20, 2009 i was really excited to try this and...it was really, really disappointing. the aroma was promising, fruity and sweet, but from the moment it hit my lips and taste buds, i wished i could have taken it all back. the taste was of rotten fruit, with sour notes and hardly any lingering sweetness. hops were almost nonexistent. maybe i got a bad bottle? i plan to revisit this at some point, simply because i can’t believe this is the way dh intended this beer to be. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 19, 2009 Dark orange color with minimal head. Carmel malt, some hops, some apricot, some B.O. in the aroma. Flavor flavor is clean with light apricot and hops with a rush of stronger apricot and tartness. It’s refreshing. Tastes like spring, thats for sure. JohnCoyne (70), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 19, 2009 Pours a burnt orange liquid with a small, fast to fade white head. Smells of hops and apricot. Taste is tart apricot, followed by floral hop and ending on a apricot tart mouth feel. Tasty, really leaves the impression having bitten into an apricot. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 18, 2009 12oz bottle 3/18/09 (Sam’s Wine & Spirits-Downers Grove)-Pours a clear amber body with a small white ring for a head. Aroma of hops and apricot. Taste begins with apricot tartness and then the hops. I agree with RedXlll that the flavors don’t go well together but definitely worth trying and not bad. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 17, 2009 Updated: Mar 23, 2009An original, tasty offering from a great brewery. Appearance a crimson scarlet - on par with the darkest of imperial IPAs - and a unique aroma of apricot and bitter citrus hops. The problem is in the flavor. While not bad by any means, the mixture of sweet apricots and bitter cascade hops doesn’t really work in balance with each other. The palate is a bit rough as well, but matches the complexity of the flavor which gets it an extra point - sweet apricot but still bitter. Overall, give it a try, but stick with the 90 minute IPA for the most part.
