The aroma was reminiscent of old Red Dog or some such swill. The appearance was frightening: cherry cider with little carbonation. The flavor was extremely sour and darn near unpalatable. Granted, I’m not a big fan of geueze or other sour fruit lambics and beers. However, I do like wine and I do like cassis lambic, but this was neither. I really enjoy many of the other Dogfish Head varietals, but damn...this one isn’t any good at all. badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 9, 2005 a wonderful wine red apparance with small head (similar to a sparkling grape juice)...aroma is nothing special, hard to pick up anything but maybe sour fruit...flavor is a bit better (red wine, sour/tart berries)...not the best beer by any means Arayaga2 (994), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 3, 2005 Draught: almost blood red with purple hints, big (but not long lasting) pinkish head. Sweet berry (varieties) aroma, with a tart finish...a bit too tart for my drinking pleasure. invalid (302), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 1, 2005 Very mixed on this beer. Creepy purple body with a pinkish head. Smells of sour fruit. The taste isn’t that bad, but I’m not sure I want to drink a whole one. spikee (96), Providence, Rhode Island, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 29, 2005 Clean, subtle berry-scented nose with hints of raspberry, blueberry, and (of course) curant. Pours a cloudy golden color with very little head or lacing. Bubbly around the mouth, in the same vein as Clearly Canadian or a very fruity sparkling wine. Palate is fizzy with an overzealous berry aftertaste that seems to linger a little longer than I’d like. Finishes with a bouquet of fruit - banana, raspberry, etc.. It’s really too much fruit for me. Wouldn’t buy again. It’s not up to snuff with the world class beers that Dogfish typically brews. oldno7 (137), Spokane, Washington, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 28, 2005 Pours a light purple with a dark red head. Aroma is of cheap wine and tastes like the wine you get at church. PorterPounder (3148), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 28, 2005 12 oz bottle - Market Square Liquors, Tallahassee, Fl. Pours a grape kool-aid and Boone’s Farm purple with a thin, spritzy reddish head that looks like that red dye that you used to put on your teeth as a kid to see if you had cavities back in the ’70s. Aroma is sour, and cheap-wine like. Flavor has some lambic-like sourness to it, but not in a pleasant way. Reminds me of drinking a glass of cheap wine after brushing your teeh. Mouthfeel is slightly spritzy and somewhat thick - not altogether bad. I’m usually in favor of some of DFH’s unique offerings, this one just does not do it for me.
