Cloudy Orange, big white head that dissipates quickly. Grapy, peachy aroma Berry, fruity flavor. very dry finish. It seems to sit kinda heavy on the tummy. Just slightly underwhelming.

Pours with a one-finger head that fades quickly to a ring leaving some lace. Cloudy amber color. Good carbonation. Nose is not distinguishable. Looking for the currant taste but it isn’t there. Sweet, fruity and different from a Belgian strong pale. Medium bodied. $2.50 for a 12oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.

Pours a crystal clear rich amber color with a very small white head. Aroma is very sweet and candy like. Flavor is sweet but not as much as expected. Really don’t pick up on any currant notes but do taste some fruity flavors of some kind. Slight fruity pebble aftertaste. Body is really nice and rich. Dry finish.

Had to rerate this years batch, much better than last year. Color matches what you expect to taste, but the fun label is gone :( No more bolstering my bluster, now its just "an ale brewed with currants" A bit more tart this year, and loads more flavor. Nice job!! Very drinkable, I am a fan of fruit beers (sweet or sour) though. I am officially making this my summer beer (while it lasts!). I have noticed a big difference though between bottles, same temp, etc. Might be improperly cared for at the liquor store. Nose was more grapey than currant, but the taste was right-on! A slight tart currant/cherry flavor. Typically I see fruit used in wheats, this was a great alternative. Be careful, its only a few percent more alcohol than a standard beer, but it will catch up to you! I wish this was a year round offering!!!!

Deep rosy-red hue. Lively carbonation. Very juicy beer ... made my mouth water. Malts were bready, nutty, dry, and just mildly sweet. Surprising amount of tartness surfaces here and there (sour cherries, lemon and raspberries). Dry, sour bitterness in the finish. Lesser hints of cocoa and light perfume. Interesting beer.

Pours a light amber with tiny floaties and a tiny head that completely disappears; if this were only sightly lighter it would only get a 2 for appearance. Aroma is fruity and astringent, somewhat of grapes and, presumably, currants. Flavor is perfumey with a little fakeyness to it and not much for hops. Palette is average. This beer does not impress me.

2004 bottle. Medium orange in color, clear, with a white head the disappears in a flash. Interesting aroma: green grapes, clover honey, Girl Scout cookies, graham crackers and alcohol. Cobwebby, musty malt flavor with apricots, raisins, green grapes, berries, and alcohol rounding it out. Lightly syrupy on the palate with faint carbonation. Finishes slightly astringent. Despite the range of flavors found within, no one really stands out, and you really have to struggle to find anything of real interest. This is better than 90% of other items on the market, but Dogfish Head makes many that are heads and tails above this.

This was an interesting though not entirely successful idea. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a nice copper color with almost no head. There is a sweet grape scent. Clarity is good. The brew is thick in texture with a tart and hoppy flavor. The Flavor is most distinctly artificial blueberry. Not good artificial blueberry either - not even in the BooBerry class. A little bit of bitterness. When this first came out I remember liking it a bit, so I got it again to rate. The strong artificial flavor really ended up turning me off to this one - but I could still drink it without too much hesitation.
