Found this at Downtown Bar & Grill. Pours a cloudy, burgundy/brown. The aroma is somewhat vinous, with a cranberry-like fruitiness. The flavor is slightly tart, fruity, grapey, sweet with a clean, slightly roasted finish. Different, not bad.

Thanks to egajdzis for breaking out this aged, vintage, ’04 bottle. Appears a reddish, cranberry juice-toned, purple color with an off white head that slowly fades out. Scattered streaks of lacing are left around the glass. Smell is of raisins, cranberries, courants, gooseberries, and other tart fruit. Taste is of tart fruit, pasty, play-dough infused courants, along with a vinous inspired flavor. Mouthfeel is tart, vinous, sweet, and sour.

12oz bottle. Unfiltered with a dark brown ruby tint. Clinging off-white head. Cocoa and chocolate malts, tart black cherries and blackberries and a little vanilla yeast in the nose. The tart and fruity sour flavor hits you immediately. Nice malt backbone. Black currants are definitely not my favorite fruit flaovr. Dry but still tart. Medicinally fruity. Solid brew, but definitely not my style. Respected but not appreciated.

This beer definitely has a distinct purple color. It is also cloudy, but no floaties. Smells a little bit like black vodka or wine since both the fruit aroma of the currant and the alcohol stand out. Moderate carbonation, small crown, and some lacing. Flavor tastes like wine with a little bit of beer malt mixed in. This is a very soft and smooth brew. The alcohol is quite hidden in the flavor. I think it is quite tasty and unique. Even my wife likes it which is good since I’ve been trying to get her more into beer and there are very few that she likes. I will have to pick up a couple more bottles of this to have on hand before it is completely unavailable... 12 oz bottle; $1.75 from Belmont Party Supply.

Bottle: Purple/brown in color, very little head. Aroma was currants, some alcohol, caramel, and maybe a little molassas. Flavor, currants and other dark fruits, some sweetness. It was a little watery, and there was an ever so slight warming. Third or fourth time I’ve had this, and I still don’t know what to think of. Just bizzarre.

Clear amber-ish color with thin pink head. Fruity aroma as would be expected. Initially a nice taste of sweet currants and a bit of malt. The finish brings about the sour, tart and/or bitter taste elements of the currants. I’d prefer a bit more malt to help balance the fruit and sour/bitter/tart after taste. All in all, not bad. I’ll certainly enjoy the other three of the four pack.

Poured a dark purple, darker than Abita’s Purple Haze. No head, nothing. No lacing, nothing. Aroma was of berries and who knows what else. Flavor was like beet juice and berry juice blended together. No thanks. If it wasn’t bought in a beer store and if it didn’t say beer on it, then I would have never known it was anything more than what I just described. (I guess that means the alcohol hid well under the nastiness, for whatever that’s worth.) Blah.

The aroma is currants and malt. The appearance is purple/red with large particles and a small pink head. The flavor is sour, tart, sweet and fruity. The currents are definitely in there. The palate is typical for a fruit beer. The aftertaste is way to tangy. This is a fun beer but I was hoping for more.
